Major studios and leading inde-
pendent movie production compa-
nies will release a record number of
motion pictures. The genres such as
costume drama and the animated
feature are making a combeback,
while horror and sci-fi pictures are
on a decline. B al 5
What is unusual hs
is that seven out

The movies will also showcase the
acting talents of such box-office
favorites as Meryl Streep, Sally
Field, Jane Fonda, Robert Redford,
Al Pacino and Richard Pryor. The
Christmas movie-release period, the
second highest-grossing period of
the year, officially commences on
Nov. 27 (Thanksgiving Weekend).
MGM-UA’s Production of ‘Rocky

An unmarried child of a Social
Security-insured ‘ person who
becomes disabled, retires, or dies
may be eligible for Social Security
benefits. If the child is under 18, he
or she would be eligible whether or
not in school; if 18-19, the child must
be attending a secondary school on
a full-time basis. The child can be
any age if he or she was severely
disabled before age 22.
A “full-time student” is one who
attends a high school, or elementary
school and who is considered by the
school to be in full-time attendance.
In addition, the student must be
enrolled for at least 20 hours a week
in a course of study that lasts at
least 13 weeks.
Students may receive Social
Security payments for all months
during which they attend an
approved school up to the month in
which they reach age 19. In some
cases, the payments may be contin-
ued after age 19 for an additional 2
months or until the school year is
completed, whichever comes first.
To remain eligible for benefits,
students must report any change
that might affect their eligibility for
monthly payments.
This includes work activity, any
change in school attendance, change
of address, or marrige. In addition,
students are required to complete a
form, near the start of the school
year and-again at the end, that calls
for such information as school
attendance and work activity. Fail-
ure to complete the form and return
it to the Social Security Administra-
tion of benefits.
Homeowners and mobile home
residents who rely on electric heat
tapes or pipe heating cables to
protect exposed water and drain
pipe from freezing are being urged
by government safety experts to
inspect the tapes or cables now for
possible fire hazards before the
onset of winter.
According to the U.S. Consumer
Product Safety Commission, over
500 reported home fires are believed
to have been caused by heat tapes

seven years. In many cases, impro-
perly installed tapes and cables
triggered the fires.
CPSC said heat tapes and calbes
are commonly used in crawl spaces
and in the substructure of mobile
homes, beach houses, mountain
cabins, cottages and other part-time
dwellings where exposed pipes
could freeze during the winter.
Some heat tapes are plugged in the
year-round and are activated by a
thermostat when the outdoor tem-
perature approaches freezing.

With the cold weather upon us and
the increased use of supplemental
heating devices to decrease the cost
of home heating the Kingston Town-
ship Department of Fire Safety and
Prevention would like to offer the
following safety tips to Township
residents.
Solid fuel burning devices: 1.
Check with local fire and building
codes for proper clearance and
requirements before installation of
heating units and chimneys. 2.
Check chimneys periodically for
build up of creosote and have your
chimney professionally cleaned at
least once a heating season. 3.
Never use papers or gasoline to
start a wood burning stove - Kkin-
dling works best. 4. Most effective
fuels are seasoned hardwoods usch
as oak, maple, elm and birch.
Electric Space Heaters: 1. Be ue
your heater is U.L. listed and ade-
quate wiring and outlets are availa-
ble. 2. Keep at least three feet of
space around heater. 3. Look for
heaters with thermostat control that
shuts off when overheated and a tip-
over switch that turns off the heater
if it should tip over.
Kerosene Heaters: 1. Once again
be sure your heater is U.L. Listed.
2. Use only water-clear kerosene -
never use gasoline. 3. Only refuel
heaters outside and never store
flammable liquids indoors. 4. Make
sure of proper ventilation in rooms
being heated by kerosene heaters. 5.
Maintain at least a three foot clear-
ance around heater.
For the past several years
national statics have shown a dras-
tic increase in fire losses caused by
supplmental heating devices. Unfor-
tunately this trend can also be seen
here in Kingston Township with
most fires handled by the two Town-
ship Fire departments during the
cold season, being caused by supple-
mental heating devices. However,
with your help, we hope to reverse
this trend and make Kingston Town-
ship a safer place to live.

vention at 696-3809 or 696-3800.
