Hottle’s Restaurant, 242 South Main St., Wilkes-Barre, has long been
noted for its seafood, steak and poultry entrees and in the years since
Jerry Passikoff became chef, Hottle’s became popular for many of
the gourmet dinners prepared by the chef.
Now with Jerry as chef and owner, Hottle’s is also the place to go
for lunch. Prices are reasonable and suitable for the working person
and prompt, courteous service is provided in a cherry atmosphere.
Takeouts are available for those persons, who would rather stay in
and continue working over their lunch hour.
* All food is prepared on the premises and is fresh daily. Every
week, Tuesday through Friday, there are daily specials on the menu
as well as a soup and sandwich special with something different
offered each day. Because the restaurant has become a popular
luncheon place, reservations are recommended to guarantee seating.
The luncheon menu offers a wide variety from cold or hot
sandwiches, salads, side dishes to platters. Among the most ordered
cold sandwiches are chicken salad, egg salad, turkey club, liver-
wurst, roast beef, tuna salad, tomato, lettuce and bacon to tuna salad.
All served on the bread of your choice-white, rye, wheat or
pumpernickel.
Many of the luncheon customers prefer hot sandwiches and among
the favorites are the crab cake, fried bologna, beef burger, fillet of
chicken, cheese steak, or the Buc-A-rue, an open faced grilled cheese
and bacon topped with a soft-shelled crab.
Mushrooms, onion rings, French fries, cole slaw are just a few of
the side dishes offered on the menu. /
The fisherman’s platter, flounder, haddock, or open faced steak are
just a few of the platters preferred by diners. The Monte Crisco —
ham, turkey, swiss cheese, dipped in batter and sauteed in butter is
“Something Different’’ offered at Hottle’s.
Looking for something not too heavy for lunch? Try the shrimp or
crab salad, Manager’s salad, comprised of Julienne ham, turkey,
cheese, tomato wedges andhard boiled egg on a bed of lettuce, or for
the weight-conscious there is nothing any better than Jerry’s fruit
platter.
Top off lunch with a touch of sweetness such as Jerry’s chocolate,
peanut butter or strawberry ice cream pie, or his specialty - a mouth-
watering gourmet cheesecake. For the less daring there are creme de
menth or chocolate parfaits or peach melba.
The mixologist on duty is prepared to mix your favorite cocktail or
if drinking is a “no-no” at lunchtime, there is coffee, tea,
decaffeinated coffee, Sanka, white or chocolate milk, soda or iced tea.
Crab Cake, chopped tenderloin, hot roast beef au jus, ham steak
and a variety of seafood is on the menu every day.
Just as Hottle’s has become la popular meeting place for lunch, it is
also a popular dining place in the evening. Many returning diners
have become friends through their many returns to the South Main
Street restaurant for dinner.
Since the dinner rush hour is usually from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., for the
person who doesn’t mind dining a little later Jerry suggests coming
at 8:30 or 9. Avoid the mad confusion and dine at leisure.
The Cattleman cut of prime rib is a favorite Friday and Saturday
night special with many of the diners.
Prepared just for your enjoyment at prices for your budget are the
delicious entrees at Hottle’s Restaurant “Where The Best Seafood is a
