COUPLE, Mr. and Mrs. Donald
who celebrated their
silver wedding anniversary
recently. The Flicks were married
in the Spring Creem Presbyterian
Church, Lemont.
Mrs. Flick is the former Cather-
ine Mullen, daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. Willard Mullen, State College,
and granddaughter of Clyde A.
Mullen, Morris Plains, N.J.
Mr. Flick is the son of Mr. and
Mrs. Lundy Flick, Julian.
The couple has two children, Don,
Jr. and Wendy Lee. Both are gradu-
ates of Wyoming Seminary and The
Pennsylvania State University.
‘Mr. Flick is on the staff of Wyo-
ming Seminary where he teaches
biology and coaches wrestling. He
earned his bachelor of arts degree
from Lycoming College and a mas-
ters of education from West Chester
University.
Mrs. Flick is a first-grade teacher
at the Westmoreland Elementary
School. She received both her bach-
elor of arts degree and masters of
education degree from Wilkes Col-
lege.
A family celebration with rela-
tives from various states attending
was held last weekend. The Flicks
recently returend from a trip to
California.

MR. AND MRS. GORDON STAN-
LEY DAVIES were recently joined
in marriage in Pennfield Presbyter-
ian Church, Pennfield, Michigan.
Rev. Leon White officiated.
Mrs. Davies is the former Cynthia
Ann Lakke, daughter of Dr. and
Mrs. Gordon W. Lakke of Battle
Creek, Michigan. Mr. Davies is the
son of Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Davies
of Dallas.
Mrs. Davies, a graduate of Alma
College, is manager of training
services with Industry Analysts,
Inc. Rochester, N.Y.
Mr. Davies, a graduate of Wyo-
ming Seminary and the State Uni-
versity of New York at Canton, is
pursuing a degree in electronics
engineering technology at the Roch-
ester Institute of Technology.
The Davies are residing in Roch-
ester.

were recently married in Grace

Mrs. Frey is the former Lori
Kathleen Olaf, daughter of Mr. and

Her husband is the son of Mr. and
Mrs. Malcolm Frey, Shavertown.

tive for Plastic Art Signs, Wilkes-
Barre.
Following a wedding trip to the
Bahamas, the couple is residing in
Wilkes-Barre.

Mrs. Zack is the former Elizabeth
Jean Cooper, daughter of Mr. and

Road, Shavertown. Mr. Zack is the
son of Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Zack,

College, Mrs. Zack is employed at

Following a wedding trip to
Orlando, Fla., the Zacks are resid-

Once in a life time you may get a
chance to do a 50-mile white water
canoe trek on the upper Delaware
River. From June 8 to June 12, the
scouts of Troop and Post 232,
Dallas, had the opportunity to show
their skill in a truly challenging
“Super Activity’.
On Saturday, June 8, the gear was
assembled and, for the next four
days, 14 teen aged Explorer Scouts
and advisors canoed through the
beautiful scenery of the upper Dela-
ware. They camped on islands in
the river, amidst a profusion of
rarely seen birds and other wildlife.
Their greatest excitement came in

new course
Residents of Northeastern Penn-
sylvania will have an opportunity to
prepare for a challenging career in
telecommunications technology at
Luzerne County Community Col-
lege. :
A new course of study leading to
an Associate in Applied Science
Degree in Telecommunications
Technology, is scheduled to begin
this fall, and will emphasize train-
ing in current telecommunications
industry practices through a combi-
nation of theory, applied telecom-
munications courses, and liberal
arts studies.
The growth of the telecommunica-
tions industry in Northeastern Penn-
sylvania has resulted in an
increased need for trained individu-
als who can assist in the operations
and management of broadcast and
closed circuit television systems,
radio stations, cable systems, and
other state-of-the-art transmission
and reception facilities.
LCCC’s two-year program is
designed to prepare students for
such positions as media coordinator,
production crew member, broadcast
media programmer,
script writer, and videographer.

The Explorer Scouts Lee Wil-
liames, Nathan Kelley, Elizabeth
Williames, Robert Skursky, John
Mitchell, James Strange, Aaron
Kelley, Mary Craft, Bob Rowlands,
Ron Fitch, Mike Dzanko, Alan
Landis, Andy Yencha, Associate
Advisor, and Dr. Lee Williames,
Post Advisor were well prepared for
the trip. Four of the Explorers were
trained as Advanced Lifesavers and
two Advisors, Yencha and Wil-
liames, are Water Safety Instruc-
tors.

Woman honored
They have been training for the
trip for a year and a half, complet-
ing canoeing merit badge or its
equivalent and Red Cross Basic
Canoeing. In the summer of 1984,
the scouts trained every other week-
end and took a 30-mile trip on a less
demanding stretch of the river in
preparation for this trip.
The Explorer Post is a land, sea
and air unit which trains on an
advanced level in traditional scout
skills; camping, lifesaving, first aid,
canoeing, survival and other con-
temporary interests.
