School Seminary announces programs Wyoming Seminary College Prep- aratory School, Kingston, has announced plans for a 1985 Summer School program. Ten courses will be offered during two three-week ses- sions. Session I will run June 10-28 and Session II July 8-26. Both ses- sions will conduct classes Monday through Friday for three hours per day. Seminary contest Shavertown; Michael Catherine Melesky, Forty Fort. ~ Two Penn State Wilkes-Barre pro- fessors, John Kolesar and Robert Paranich, are among 18 members of ‘the faculty of the Penn State College | of Engineering who received ¥ awards for outstanding teaching, | advising and research. The awards. are sponsored annually by the Penn State Engi- neering Society, the College’s alumni organization. y John Kolesar, professor of general engineering was among six advisers in the entire Penn State system who were honored “for diligent service that might otherwise go unnoticed.” He has taught at the Wilkes-Barre campus for 31 years and has been program chairman for highway engineering technology, railway engineering technology, and survey- ing technology. He has been active in alumni, fund raising, and stra- tegic planning committees on the campus, and has served as senator at the University level for 10 years. A resident of Swoyersville, he has participated in many civic activities and was a member of the Luzerne ~ County Board of Views and on the board of Accreditation for Bachelor of Engineering Technology through- out the country. In 1980, he received the ‘Hayfield Award which is presented by the Student Govern- ment Association of Penn State Wilkes-Barre to the outstanding instructor for the academic year. Receiving the teaching award as a “truly memorable educator whose inspiration is never forgotten” was Robert S. Paranich, assistant pro- fessor of engineering at the Wilkes- Barre campus. Paranich, who has taught electrical engineering and physics at the local campus for 19 years, was recently rated the best engineering instructor on any of Penn: State’s 17 Commonwealth campuses located throughout the state. The rating was determined by a survey of 3,900 former 1982-83 engineering students at all cam- puses. Paranich has served as a faculty senator for eight years and is active in the Penn Mountain Council, Boy Scouts of America, both on the unit and district levels. Five other faculty members in the Penn State system also received the teaching award honors this year. Recipient of the awards were presented with plaques and $500 at a meeting this month of the College of Engineering faculty at University Park. Also, Paranich and Kolesar were honored at commencement ceremonies at the local campus. Penn State Adult Night! Tourney set Continuing efforts to send the Dallas High School Soccer Team to Scotland in the summer of 1986 are now concentrated on a Golf Tourna- ment to be held at the Irem Temple Country Club on June 21 beginning 2 p.m. Operating under the Calloway System, the tournament is open to all golfers and the entrance fee includes cart, green fees and dinner. !
