SO you can be ready for the Fall.
If you are planning a trip outside of the
United States this summer, there is a
very important matter to attend to before
you buy your ticket and pack your bag.
That most important matter is getting
a birth certificate. A birth certificate is
required to get a passport and getting
both takes time. Persons needing these
documents should begin the process at
trip to avoid disappointment.
Travelers to Canada, Mexico and the
Carribean don’t need passports but,
according to Charles Hardester, director
of the Division of Vital Records in the
state Health Department, they definitely
do need a birth certificate to prove
citizenship.

LEADERS IN BUSINESS
store.
Four years ago Jim Eason left his
position in sales to fulfill his lifetime
dream of owning his own business so he
initiated his new hardware business at 42-
44 Main St., Dallas. At the time, no one
knew what the future would be although
since then interest has decreased from 20
to 12 percent.
Eason became affiliated with Pro
Hardware, Inc., international franchise
which provides goods and services to
more than 3,500 independently owned
hardware stores in the United States. At
the time Eason opened his business, his
wife, Carol, owned and operated a beauty
salon above the store. Since that time,
the Eason’s have made many changes in
their business including increased inven-
tory, expansion inside and outside, and
moving Carol’s beauty shop to street
level, adjacent to the store.
In the near future, Jim and Carol plan

more renovations such as expanding the
beauty shop, making more parking area
in the rear of the store, putting in a new
entrance facing Memorial Highway and
additional storage facilities. Jim also
plans to change the Main Street front of
the building.
Working in the business is Jim, Carol’s
brother, Rick Ruger, and Jim’s daughter,
Michele. Jim, who is pleased with the
decision he made in 1981, was named
“Dealer of the Year” for Region 2 by Pro
Hdwe. Inc. and recently was appointed to
the Pro Hardware Dealer Advisory
Board.
Despite working long hours, Jim loves
every minute of his work. The Easons
are members of Trinity United Presby-
terian Church where Jim is on the board
of deacons. He is also a member of the
Dallas Rotary Club.
