Clarence Elston of Old Lake It seems several readers of The Dallas Post had a great time trying to remember back far enough that they could identify the location of the photo which appeared in last © week’s Remembering Column on photo, which was identified only as State Street in Dallas, is a photo of what is now known as Lake Street. The section of that street which appears in last week’s photo is the area where Commonwealth Tele- Street in Dallas was the first to call last Wednesday to identify the photo. Mr. Elston claims the photo was probably taken around 1917 and that State Street was later known as Mon.-Fri. 9-8 —Sat. 9-5 19’’ Diagonal Portable AFT Color TV e MX/300 chassis l= © 90° in-line matrix tube e Digital control pro- grammable scan tuning f° 125 total channel capability e LED channel display » Tone control ® 4''x6" speaker RD4252WA e 17-button IR remote 9’’ Diagonal Automatic Fine Tuning Color TV eo MX/100 chassis e Contrast 52 picture tube e 70 UHF/12 VHF de- | tent tuning e Automatic Fine Tuning ® Automatic color circuit rn ” CE4137TWA © ® 5x3" speaker page four. phone Company is currently - the Harveys Lake Highway. ~ What we have learned lis that the located. Doris Kitchen of Lower Demunds Road in Dallas told us that after the Raub family moved from that home on the left the Kear family moved in. Doris was also kind of enough to compliment us on a photo that we published last week, showing the intersection of Lower Demunds Road and Roushey Street where Kingston Township Police Officer Ralph Seltzer was run down by a juvenile driver last Sunday night. That photo was taken by George Poynton and not by Ed Campbell as was reported in last week’s issue. Claire Kuehn of Dallas also called to point out that the Commonwealth Telephone Company building is now located in the empty field seen in the photo. It was Claire who loaned us the photo which was included in a packet of old photos she brought to our office several weeks ago. Ernest W. Wood of Rice Street in Dallas, identified the house on the left as that of the Beaver family. Ernest also said the field where the telephone company building is now located was once the sight of a house belonging to Devan’s, a family who owned a feed mill at one time. called to clear up our mystery photo.
