The Lake-Lehman wrestling team defeated previously
unbeaten Meyers 25-19 Wednesday. Dave Guzenski started
the Black Knights rolling with a pin over Charlie Leo of
Meyers at 112 1b. Other winners for Lehman were Don
Spencer who decisioned Bob Thomas 8-5 a great 6-5 decision
by Ed Statford over Willie Norton and a 5-0 decision by
Norm Clancy over Dave Kratz.
This set up the final and decisive match of the evening
between two of the area’s fine heavyweights Charles
VanGorder and Daryl Boich. Chris came away with a hard-
earned 8-5 decision to give the Knights the final margin of

F. Cornell’s 212 (573) led the way
for Charlies All Stars four points
from the Hambos in Bonomo’s
C. Mill’s 189 showed the way for the
winning five while A. Hospodar led
Sports Center took three point from
G.H. Harris girls and Grotto Pizza
picked up three from Gordon Insur-
ance, two of them by a forfeit.
Major League. B. Cyphers hit the
pins for 212 (540) and K. Orkwis
tumbled them for 549 to aid in the
~ shutout. S. Bonomo racked up 541
for the losing five. G.H. Harris
blanked Bermudas with C. Kazokas
scattering the pins for 232 (576) and
A. Wendel knocking them down for
554. D. Purvin contributed 536. B.
Belcher rolled 524 for the Bermu-
das. Sweet Valley Outfitters took all
from Brown’s Oil aided by Glen
Mazer who pounded the pins for 219
(596) and R. Bonomo, Jr. hit them
for 566. J. Roan rolled 220 (539) for
the oil men. The Beach Combers
and Bk. Mt. Sporting Goods divided
evenly. F. Tregan walloped the pins
for 225 (560) and Bo Searfoss top-
pled them for 562 for the Beach
Combers. The sporting goods men
were led by L. Coolbaugh’s 214
(534).
In the George Shupp League
Fino’s Pharmacy picked up three
points from Steele’s Restaurant led
by R. Bonomo, Jr. who walloped
pins for a big 240-235 (662) series. T.
Shalata gave 523. S. Wickard posted
214 (575) for the restaurant team. A.
Gordon’s E. Feher scattered pins
for 192.
LaBarons shut out the Camaros
and the Corvettes blanked the
Capris in the Idetown Compacts.
Mel Morris converted the 6-7-10 split
to lead the Citations to three points
from the Pintos and E. Ishley’s 212
(564) set the pace for the Firebirds
three points from Aries, H. Dickin-
son rolled 174-180 (476) and C. Doty
hit 193 (474).
In the Back Mountain Church
League C. Roberts 221 (554) helped
Dallas A take three points from
Trucksville C, who had J. Reming-
ton’s 526 and B. Hospodar’s 513.
Maple Grove earned three points
from the Orange team paced by
Glen Mazer’s 216 (563). and H.
Shupp rolled 534 for Orange. R.
Witkowski’s big 236 (548) showed
the way for East Dallas men who
took three from Carverton B and
Shavertown A picked up three
points from Carverton A. D. Wright
hit pins for 553 to lead Shavertown
B to a 2-2 split with Trucksville B
whose S. Hoover knocked down pins
for 532 and G. Kohli tipped them for
516.
Wendel slammed the pins for 268
(596) and D. Purvin hit them for 583
to lead Harris Associates to three
points from Katyl TV. Gino’s Shoe
Store managed three points from
SCID paced by C. Kazokas’ 572.
They took total pins by only five.

Ladies Country League by copping

In the Imperialette League Sca-
vone Motors won the first half title
in the roll-off held Sunday after-
noon. The motors team defeated
Lombardo Bakery team 1945 to 1879
to take the title. Kay Scavone led
the winning five with 179 (489) and
L. Macieczjak added 170. J. Clark
hit 170 for the bakery girls.
In last Friday’s competition in the
league, Jean Shop shut out Hoof 'N
Paw sparked by D. Garnett’s 209
(496). G. Bachman knocked down
pins for 172-206 (493) to lead Mahaf-
fey Oil to three points from Lom-
bardo Bakery. J. Stacey added 179
(493) to aid in the win. Scavone
Motors picked up three points from
Humphrey’s Apparel with no one on
either team able to break high
scores.
In the Bowlerette League Frank-
lin’s copped three points from Tom
Reese girls while the Hoagie Bar
and Brent Long were dividing 2-2.
Glen Mazer stole the limelight in
the Bonomo’s Major League last
Friday when he clobbered the pins
for 242-300 (735) to lead the Sweet
Valley Outfitters team to four points
from Back Mountain Sporting
Goods.

Bloomsburg University’s brother
combination of Rick and Rocky
Bonomo have been selected as
members of the East team for the
East-West All Star Wrestling Match
scheduled for Monday, Feb. 4, at
Utah State University, Logan, Utah.
The annual event, which features
the nation’s top wrestlers in a dual
match format, is set for 7 p.m.
Mountain Time (9 p.m.EDT) in
Utah State’s 10,200 seat Spectrum.
The duo’s selection makes
Bloomsburgh the only eastern uni-
versity to have more than one
performer selected to the squad.
Iowa, currently ranked as the coun-
try’s top team, led all teams with
five all-star choices while Oklahoma
State and the Huskies each had two
selections.
In the 118-1b. bout, Rick-who is
ranked number three in the weight
class--will face top ranked Mark
Perry of Oklahoma State. The
Huskies’ sophomore enters this
weekend’s Pennsylvania Conference
Championships with a record of 22-
2. His performance includes five
falls, eight technical falls and nine
decisions.
Rocky will face Barry Davis of
Iowa in the 126 1b. match. Davis is
ranked first and was a silver medal-
ist at the 1984 Olympic Games in
Los Angeles, while Bonomo is rated
third and has a perfect 25-0 record
to date. He has pinned three oppo-
nents and scored nine technical falls
and 13 decisions.

Kathy Walsh, daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. Paul Walsh of Dallas, is wear-
ing a King’s College women’s bas-
ketball uniform these days and has
been a member of the Lady Mon-
archs since the beginning of the 1985
school year.
Walsh, a graduate of Dallas High
School, was recently reported as
being a second-year member of the
Lady Flashes at Kent State Univer-
sity.
According to Kathy’s father, how-
ever, the 58’ guard is now a
starting member of Coach Robin
Cummins’ Lady Monarchs.

The Bonomos will be joined by
three other wrestlers from the East-
ern Wrestling League on the East
unit. Penn State’s Greg Elinsky will
b at 158 Ibs., Clarion’s Jim Beichner
at 190 and the heavyweight will be
Rick Petersen of Lock Haven. Sand-
ers stated, “The EWL is on of the
top three leagues in the country
shows in the fact that half of the
East lineup will come from our
league.”
