Children’s - Auction Is Saturday Leslie Parker, chairwoman of chil- dren’s activities for the 38th Annual Back Mountain Memorial Library Auction, has announced children’s events for the auc- tion. The main attraction will be the children’s auction on Saturday, July 7 from 10 a.m. to noon. Children will be able to bid on new and used toys, games and dolls. Area personality Manny Gordon will be on hand to lead the auctioning and to sign autographs. Throughout the four-day event there will be a carnival and video games for the youngsters to play. Special appear- ances will also be made by costumed characters. Use it, don’t abuse it! Prior to the start of the 37th Annual Back Mountain Memorial Library Auc- tion, 1983 auction chairman Joann Free- man said “the library is for the public.” It would probably be safe to say that most of us agree with her. Logically speaking, it would also probably be safe to say the auction is for the public, too, surprised us this year. It is for this reason we are reminding Back Mountain residents that it is illegal to tamper with or vandalize someone else’s property. It seems, in the past, some people have felt the need to damage either donations to the library auction or some part of the auction grounds themselves. And, if you are interested in the library, make it a point to attend the auction. Remember, it’s your auction as much as it is anyone else’s and you should feel entitled to be a part of it.
