Pitcher Rich Gdovin fanned six and walked six while scattering eight hits. He went the entire game Jor the Mountaineers who scored wh runs in the first inning and Wire in the third to take a 7-0 lead “over the Argents. Tim Grove drove out two doubles and A.J. Bittner belted out one to give the Mountaineers key hits in the win. Bittner also added a single and scored a run. Catcher D. Breining and third baseman Coolbaugh each accounted for two of the Mounts 13 hits. The Mountaineers staged a three run rally in the seventh inning in Thursday’s game with Nanticoke but fell short by one run as the Trojans took them 5-4 at the Nanti- coke field. John Dent absorbed the loss for Dallas, striking out four and walking four in five and two thirds innings. A.J. Bittner drove out a pair of doubles for the Mounhaineers and went two-for-three at the plate. Dallas had the tying run on second base with two out in the final inning but Len Sincavage came in as relief for the Trojans and struck out the final man at the plate to hold the 5-4 win. Distasio picked up the win for the Trojans. Darren Breining belted out a two run homer in the first inning and Matt Medura hit a two run triple to give Dallas a five run lead in the game with Bishop O’Reilly. They scored a single run in the third to make it 6-0 then added three runs in the sixth on a two-run double by Art Coolbaugh and a run scoring triple by D. Jubis. Pitcher R. Gdovin struck out eight and walked only three before leav- ing the mound for relief pitcher Konopki. The Dallas nine has three tough games scheduled for this week beginning with Valley West, then Crestwood and Lake-Lehman. — CHARLOT M. DENMON Watch this Dallas Post/Ed Campbell Coach Jay Pope’s Dallas Mountai- neers, who are fighting for a playoff spot in the AAA Division dropped a half game behind Valley West last Thursday when they lost 6-1 to Nanticoke. Sandi Shone gave up only six tage of five Mountaineers errors to put across their six runs. Shone fanned two and walked two. Julie Adams accounted for two of the Dallas team’s five hits, all of them singles. The Mountaineers crushed Wyo- ming Area 15-1 in a makeup game on Wednesday using an 18-hit bar- rage. Shone was the winning pitcher in the game with Jill Radzinski belting out a home run and two singles. She also drove in three of the Mountaineers 15 runs. Earlier the Mountaineers downed Bishop O’Reilly 20-5 using 16 hits. Lori Handley hit a double and two singles and Radzinski knocked out three singles to lead the Dallas girls. The game was played at Dallas due to poor playing conditions at O’Reilly’s field. Sheri Ciccarelli, Julie Adams and Kim Rinehimer each had two hits and Sandi Shone rapped out a double to help win her own game. Shone fanned two and walked none in the first two and one third innings before Adams came=in as relief. Adams struck out four and walked innings. Dallas girls were scheduled to start this week with Valley west on Monday, then Crestwood followed by Lake-Lehman later in the week. — CHARLOT M. A 7-4 victory over the Dodgers in extra innings started them rolling. Eric Zimmerman was credited with the win and also drove in the winning run with a key hit in the eighth inning. Frankie Natitus made a game-ending defensive play to end all hopes for the Dodgers. Brett Gauntlett gave his team three strong innings on the mound while teammate Jeff Tinner banged out two hits. The Orioles’ second win of the week, a 5-0 shutout over the Phil- lies, upped the team record to 3-1. Brian Karuza did a fine job on the mound while mates Rich Kaskey and Eric Zimmerman blasted out extra base hits. Defensively, Tony for the Orioles. J.J. Straigus recorded 15 strikeouts in a losing effort. The Giants remained the only undefeated team in league play when they defeated the Pirates, 14- 0. Winning pitcher Todd Sallo recorded 18 strikeouts to get the win. Offensively, Sallo slammed two homers while J.J. Konigus and Jim Chamberlain chipped in with one round-tripper each. Randy PAras- chak aided the cause with two hits, giving the team a total of 21 hits throughout the game. The Knights jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning. The Warriors scored a run in the bottom of the second and two more in the fourth to go in front 3-2. The Knights pushed across three in the top of the fifth but the Warriors exploded in the bottom of the fifth for eight runs. Wyoming’s first baseman Hague hit a home run and a double for Wyoming Area to lead the Warriors to their win. The Knights centerfielder Chris Wargo drove out a bases loaded triple for Lake-Lehman in the fifth inning before the Warrior pitcher Jill Solinski picked up the win in Friday’s 11-9 win over Wyoming Seminary before being relieved on the mound by Beth Finn. Kelly Wandell drove out two homers, one a grand slam, hit a single and accounted for five runs as the Lady Knights took a 10-0 lead over Seminary after three innings. Lori Lopasky hit a one-run single and Sandy Dicton added two singles to the Lady Knights attack. Solinski gave up only two hits on Wednesday against Coughlin and paced the girls at the plate with three-for-three to spark Lake- quelled the Knights rally. Al Michaels was the losing pitcher. The Knights picked up their second win in league play Wednes- day by defeating Wyoming Semi- nary 13-9. The score was tied 7-7- going into Knights exploded for six runs. Al Michaels hit a double and the Knights put to good use five walks and two singles and a sacrifice bunt to push across the six runs. Earl Weidner hit a double in the second inning to drive in one of the Knights runs. Crispell was the winning pitcher for Lake-Lehman.
