Mr. and Mrs. Thomas W. Evans
of 47 Hilldonia Avenue, Dallas,
announce the engagement of their
daughter, Robin, to Kevin L. Cleve-
land, son of Mr. and Mrs. Louis
Cleveland of Evans Falls.
Ms. Evans is a graduate of Dallas
High School and is presently attend-
ing Empire Beauty School of
Wilkes-Barre.
Mr. Cleveland is a graduate of
Tunkhannock Area High School and
is employed at InterMetro Indus-
tries Corporation of Wilkes-Barre.
The wedding will be celebrated on
Saturday, May 19 at Shavertown
United Methodist Church.
Mary Ann Cleary of Dallas has
accepted the chairmanship of
National Mental Retardation Month
which will be observed during the
month of March in Luzerne County
and throughout the nation.
The Association for Retarded Citi-
zens of Luzerne County a member
of the ARC of Pennsylvania, and the
ARC of the United States will con-
duct a campaign to inform the
community about people with
mental retardation and to accept
these individuals within their local
communities.
Mrs. Cleary has announced that
during this observance special
events will be held such as an essay
contest for elementary and high
school students, a banner raising on
Public Square, displays, distribution
of pamphlets to physicians and pro-
fessionals "in the field «of mental
retardation and workshops.

Assumpta Council 3987 will sponsor
a Variety Show at Bishop O'Reilly
School and citizens with Mental
Retardation will be invited as their
guests.
Anyone interested in assisting
with any of these events may call
the Association for Retarded Citi-
zens office, 71 N. Franklin St.,
Wilkes-Barre or Mary Ann Cleary.
Mrs. Cleary resides with her hus-
band, Jack, and their five children.
She is currently a member of the
ARC Board of Directors and is
active in their ‘Parent to Parent
Support Group.”

years old respectively, are the
parents of 12 children, 10 of
whom are living. They are Mar-

Oak Hill; Lawrence Ide, East

MARK ROSING, Dallas was one
of three area semi-finalists for the
scholarship competition sponsored
by the National Society of Profes-
sional Engineers Educations Foun-
dation. Mark will now compete for
the opportunity for scholaships with
students from all across Pennsyl-

sophomore has
been selected to
attend the Hugh
O’Brien Youth
Foundation Lead
ership Seminary scheduled: March
29 to April 1 in Lancaster.
The seminar, a two and one half
day workshop will consist of a
variety of ‘speakers from business,
government and industries from
throughout the state.
Kathryn was chosen to attend the
program based on her activities at
the prep school and a recommenda-
tion from a faculty-student selection
committee.
Kathryn is the daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Herbert Quick, Harveys
Lake.

two local residents, Becky Aben,
Harveys Lake and Lowry Puckey,
Dallas, to the Gallery’s Advisory

Both will serve three year terms
