Mary Ann Cleary of Dallas has accepted the chairmanship of National Mental Retardation Month which will be observed during the month of March in Luzerne County and throughout the nation. The Association for Retarded Citi- zens of Luzerne County a member of the ARC of Pennsylvania, and the ARC of the United States will con- duct a campaign to inform the community about people with mental retardation and to accept these individuals within their local communities. Mrs. Cleary has announced that during this observance special events will be held such as an essay contest for elementary and high school students, a banner raising on Public Square, displays, distribution of pamphlets to physicians and pro- fessionals "in the field «of mental retardation and workshops.
