Walsh is found guilty
James M. Walsh, 17, of 118 Westminster Drive,
Dallas, was found guilty of negligent operation of a
motorboat by District Justice Leonard Harvey at a
hearing held Oct. 6.
Walsh had been cited by the Pennsylvania Fish
Commission in connection with an accident that
occurred Aug. 16 on Harveys Lake when his motorboat
struck a drifting boat occupied by Michele Kravitsky,
23, of RD 3, Box 177, Dallas.
The Fish Commission also cited Miss Kravitsky with
negligent operation of her boat, but Harvey found her
not guilty at the Oct. 6 hearing. The citation against
Kravitsky alleged she failed to use required navigation
lights. :
- In his ruling, Harvey relied on testimony from Fay
Williams of Harveys Lake, a witness to the accident
who was in his boat near the scene of the accident and
said he saw a blinking light on the Kravitsky boat
after the crash.
Harvey said that since Miss Kravitsky’s boat was
struck on the left side while it was pointed toward
shore, Walsh must have been traveling in a clockwise
direction around the lake. Lake boating laws requiring
boats to travel in a counter-clockwise direction.
The conviction against Walsh carries a $100 fine.
