This is a piece of athletic equipment involving weights and various stations for exercising. Jones commented that this equip- ment would be a valuable acquisi- tion to Lake-Lehman’s strength building program which is available to all athletes, male and female, and that the strength-conditioning program has certainly helped a small school district like Lake- Lehman be competitive with school districts who have larger enroll- ments and more participating ath- letes. Jones al: . acknowledged the fine relationship in- both athletics and academics that has existed between Lake-Lehman and Penn State over the past years. The new Universal Gym will ten- tatively be placed in the Senior High School Weight Room-Conditioning Room along with the old Universal Gym and other pieces of condition- ing equipment. Freeze Walk is scheduled A walk-a-thon in support of a mutual nuclear weapons freeze will be held on Saturday, Oct. 1, at 10 a.m. The 10-kilometer (6.2 mile) fundraising event will begin in Kirby Park, Kingston. Walkers will follow a designated route through Wilkes-Barre and Kingston and will return to Kirby Park for a bring- your-own picnic. Supporters who cannot walk the entire route are urged to come to Kirby Park at 1 p.m. to greet the walkers and join the picnic. : The Wyoming Valley Freeze Walk will be one of 18 in Pennsylvania and over 240 across the country.
