Lars Ebbeson, an
American Exchange
student from Silkeborg,
Denmark is spending
this year with the John
Sheehan family of
Overbrook Avenue,
Dallas.
Having arrived in
late July, Lars
explained what his
homeland is like.
He said his home in
Denmark is located in
the Juteland region and
that his father, Niels, is
an upholsterer and his
mother, Karen, helps
with the upholstering
business. Lars has a
sister Maj, age 12, and
years old, is a graduate
of Virklund School.
Lars will be a senior
at Dallas Senior High
School this year where
he hopes to play volley-
route during his visit
here.
Lars is looking for-
ward to hunting season
and explained that in
Denmark, a person can
begin to hunt at the age
of 16. However, only
those owning hunting
property can hunt in
Denmark.
Lars enjoys outdoor
sports, swimming, wind
surfing, canoeing, vol-
leyball and badminton.
In Denmark, he
explains, badminton is
taken very seriously
with great cup competi-
tions being held.
Although soccer is a
very popular sport in
Denmark, Lars is not
too enthusiastic about
it
Lars described his
homeland as-flat, where
there are no raw mate-
rials available and
minister and a queen.
Queen Margretha II has
no actual power, but
performs public cere-
monies.
Lutheran is the state
for ceremonies like con-
firmation and mar-
riage.
Lars said Danish food
1983-84 school year.
Lars likes to cook, but
doesn’t enjoy baking.
Lars finds American
television stations inter-
esting since Denmark
has only one state-oper-
sonian Institute. The
Sheehans plan to visit
New York City and pos-
sibly Disney World and
and a Penn State foot-
ball game are being
considered.
With his American
family, Lars has
already vacationed in
family life to be busier
than that of the Danish
family.
The Sheehan family
who is president of the
Dallas Chapter of AFS;
Heather, a senior at
Dallas High School;
and John, a ninth
grader at Dallas Junior

teens, and at least for a
year, become a part of
