    MR. AND MRS. GEORGE CHARNEY
Wed 40 years
Mr. and Mrs. George Charney, RD 1, (Beaumont)
Dallas, celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary on
July 26 and were honored at an open house by their
children. Many friends and relatives attended the open
house.
Mrs. Charney is the former Arla Coon, daughter of the
late John and Nora Coon of Carverton. Mr. Charney is
the son of the late William and Ella Charney.
They were married on July 26, 1943, in the United
Methodist Church in Carverton by the late Rev. Charles
Gilbert, pastor at the time. Their attendants were
Elizabeth Malarkey and John Charney, a brother of Mr.
Charney.
Mr. and Mrs. Charney have resided in Beaumont
residence since 1949.
They are the parents of five children, George, Jr.,
Cape May, N.J.; Mrs. Lawrence Campbell, Dallas; Mrs.
Paul Spangenburg, Eatonville; Mrs. Richard Sabol,
Dallas; and Robin, at home. They also have eight
grandchildren.

MR. AND MRS. CHARLES KEATING are the proud
Rosaro Hospital in Pisa, Italy. Mrs. Keating is the
former Gwen Marie Salansky, daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Stephen Salansky, Harveys Lake. Eileen is the Salan-
sky’s first grandchild. Paternal grandparents are Mr.
and Mrs. Charles Keating, Sr., Hockessin, Delaware.
Eileen’s grandmother, Rose Salansky, spent several
weeks in Italy where she had the opportunity to get
acquainted with the little newcomer.
Following a year in Italy, Mr. and Mrs. Keating will
move to Chambersburg in August.

SINCERE SYMPATHY to the Rev. Carlos and Eliza-
beth Lee Munoz and their family following the death of
their son, Leonard, last week. Rev. and Mrs. Munoz are
well known in the area, having served the Centermore-
land, East Dallas and Dymond Hollow United Methodist
Church Charge for several years.

LAKE-LEHMAN TEACHER FRANK MRUFCHINSKI
has returned from an exciting tour of Poland. Frank had
the opportunity to visit relatives as well as enjoy the
fine foods, beautiful sights and sounds of Poland.

TRUCKSVILLE VOLUNTEER FIRE COMPANY is in
need of new members. Although the company, founded
in 1918, presently has 25 members, that number is not
sufficient to meet the needs of the community. Anyone
16 years or older interested in membership may obtain
information by contacting Shel Williams, membership
secretary or Dave Barna, president.

announced their engagements: Karen Kerpovich and
Anthony Raymand Neare; Frederick A. Merrill Jr. and
Laurie Elizabeth Onufer.
A graduate of Dallas High School, Miss Kerpovich is
pursuing a bachelor of science degree in nutrition at
College Misericordia. She is employed pdrt-time at
Susquehanna Savings, Edwardsville.
Mr. Neare, a Coughlin High School graduate, received
his B.A. degree in Business Administration from West
Virginia University. He is employed by Marstan Indus-
tries, Philadelphia. The couple will be married in June,
1984.
Miss Onufer, a graduate of Salisbury High School and
Moravian College is a staff writer for the Times, Inc.
newspaper in Philadelphia.
Mr. Merrill, a Bishop /O’Reilly High School and
Moravian College graduate is attending Philadelphia
College of Osteopathic Medicine. He is a 2nd Lieutenant
in the Army Reserves.
The couple will be married May.2 12, 1984 in St. Ann's
Church, Emmaus, Pa.

Madl and Mr. and Mrs. Michael’ T. Rudick who were
recently married.
The Madls were joined in marriage in St. Therese’s
Church, Shavertown. Rev. Joseph EF. Sammons per-
formed the double ring ceremony and celebrated the
nuptial mass.
Mrs. Madl, the former Patricia Marie Zukosky, is a
graduate of Dallas High School and the Pennsylvania
Gerhart LaW.Eirm, Binghampton, N.X.
Mr. Madl, a graduate of John S. Fine High School and
Pennsylvania State University, is employed by IBM,
Endicott, N.Y.
Following a wedding trip to Hawaii,
residing in Endicott, N.Y.
Mr. and Mrs. Rudick were also ‘married in St.
Therese’s Church with Rev. Sammons officiating.
Mrs. Rudick, the former Debra Lee Watkins, is a
graduate of West Side Vocational Technical School and
is employed at Encon Inc., Dallas.
Mr. Rudick, also a West Side Vo-Tech graduate is
employed by Sterling Engineering and Manufacturing,
Forty Fort.
Following a wedding trip to Niagara Falls, Canada,
the Rudicks are residing in Trucksville.

“Christmas in July’’ was celebrated recently

celebrates
The annual Christmas in July
celebration at the Dallas Recrea-
tion Center last week proved to be
another successful program.
Over 109 children joined in the
games, gift exchange, pinatas and
refreshments. The children
dressed in bright reds and greens
which added to the spirit of the
occasion. The evening concluded
with the showing of three Christ-
mas films including Charles Dick-
ens, ‘‘A Christmas Carol.”

Seniors hold cookouts
The Senior Citizens of the Meadows Apanments held
two cookouts recently.

Bartorillo; kitchen chairladies! were: Florence Shively
and Barbara Todd; outdoor chefs were George Barto-
rillo, Herb Phillips, Bob Franc, Dave Jones and Mike
Manganello, Several ladies of the Meadows served and
worked at both affairs. Outdoor games were played and
prizes were awarded.
The Meadows is a housing project for the elderly
sponsored by The Ecumenical Enterprises Incorporated.
Seniors tour Amish area
The Senior Citizens of the Meadows Apartments and
friends enjoyed a bus trip through the Amish country,
stopping for dinner at Plain and Fancy Restaurant in
Bird-In-Hand.
Seventy eight people attended and also enjoyed a stop
at Meadowbrook Farmer’s- Market and several gift
shops.
Bus trip chairman was Don Williams,
chairlady was Ruth Foley.
Class holds reunion
The Dallas Township High School Class of 1935 held its
class reunion on Saturday, July 30, at the home of
George and Fern Rogers, of Lehman. The group enjoyed
a buffet dinner.
Those who attended the reunion were Anna M. Bush,

Bulfords plan reunion.
/The ‘62nd annual reunion of the descendants of John
and Rachel Bulford, early pioneers of the Back Moun-
tain area, will be held Sunday, Aug. 21, at the
Bloomingdale Grange.
There will be a picnic dinner at 1 p.m.
Traver reunion planned
The 77th annual reunion of the Traver-Barringer
families will be held Sunday, Aug. 21 at Hanson’s Park,
Harveys Lake.
The business meeting will begin at 2 p.m.
Nursing exams slated
Challenge exams for registered nurses in the Mary-
8:30 a.m. in Room 214 of the Liberal Arts Center.
Exams will be given in the following areas: anatomy,
microbiology, chemistry, nutrition, psychology, and
sociology.
Registration for the exams will be conducted in the
nursing department, located in Regina Hall, on Aug. 22,
23, 24 from 9:30 - 11 a.m. and from 2 - 4 p.m.

Locals at Dickinson
Among 1800 students pursuing their liberal arts
degrees ‘at Dickinson College this Fall are about 1300
returning sophomores, juniors and seniors.
