The Harveys Lake Protective Association is planning to host an ox- roast on June 18. + The event is part of a «broadened program to kick off summer activities at the lake. Each brganization in the ‘an event to promote and he part of a weekend long program called ‘‘The Harveys Lake Homecoming Festival.” The roast is expected to draw a large number of residents whowill feast on great quantities of choice beef. Chariman Butch Hall (one of the principals of Benton Foundry) is in the process of con- structing a 15-foot long motorized barbecue spit designed to hold at least five full hind-quarters of beef. Hall stated, ‘‘The Association anticipates serving a complete sit down dinner including beverages and dessert under the pavilion on Sandy Bottom Beach. The event will take place between 12 and 5 p.m. Tickets may be ob- tained form committee members, or by stopping at the Harveys Lake Municipal Building at sunset, HAPPY BIRTHDAY: The Dallas Post wishes Amanda Lee Cunningham a happy third birthday. Some collectors concentrate on one or two areas, others gather with loving hands items of a widely diver- sified nature. As one member of the Group said recently, “If you have two of anything, you've started a collection.” Members of the Collectors Group, which meets monthly in the library annex, are simply collectors. They are not engaged in the business of selling but rather gathering things that interest them and become treasures in their own collections. In addition to the organization’s members, display things that have wide appeal. A group of souvenir spoons, more than 300 of which have been acquired by Lois Hughes of Dallas will share the spotlight with her extensive collectin of Lincoln memorabilia. Tickets may be pur- chased from members of the Collectors Group, the Back Mountain Library or at the door. The Dallas Chapter of the American Field Service will present a talent show on Sunday, April 24 at 8 p.m. at Trucksville United Methodist Church Educa- tional Building, Church Road, Trucksville. Exchange students of the AFS, school club members, and their friends will take part. The program will be varied and will include music and skits. It has already been assured that the Folk Group of St. Paul's Lutheran Church will perform, as well as an authentic Egyptian ‘belly dancer.” Fun for the whole family is in the offing, with proceeds aiding the AF.S. The Dallas Junior Woman’s Club recently bestowed, for the first time in the club’s history, the distinct honor of ‘‘Member of the Year” on one of its members. The award was made as a surprise at the club’s monthly meeting to Valerie Gialanella. A short presentation of Valerie's contributions to the club was made by Mary Ann Storz and Linda Vozniak. Valerie joined Dallas Junior Woman’s Club in June, 1980, and has been actively involved ever since. Her many activities include the library auec- tion, halloween party committee, Christmas party committee and pizza sale co-ordinator. She has served as co chairman of the club’s Easter egg hunt for the past two years, this year assuming greater responsibility for the event. She presently is corresponding secretary for the club, a job that also includes the ac- tivities of the membership department. As chairman of membership, Valerie has organized membership punch parties to recruit new members, orien- tation meetings and began the ‘Member of the Season” award program.
