Natt, son of Edward D. and Mary Swoyersville, has com- pleted one station unit training (OSUT) at the U.S. Army Infantry School, Fort Benning, Ga. OSUT is a 12-week period which combines basic combat training and advanced individual training. The Wyoming Valley West intramural staff, along with the Spartan Wrestling Club, will sponsor an elementary wrestling tournament for Wyoming Valley West pupils only. The tournament will be held on Tuesday, March 22, at Wyomig Valley West Middle School. There is no entry fee, and Tom is a member of Council 302 Knights of Columbus, Wilkes-Barre, a fourth-degree member of Bishop Hafey Assembly, and also a member ®&f the Order of Alhambra, which helps Bishop O’Reilly High the mentally retarded. School, Kingston, has been notified that it has been awarded a grant from the state Depart- ment of Education for the purchase of computers. The award, part of a block grant of federal funds to the states for educational purposes, was one of only 17 designated by the Com- monwealth from nearly 2,500 applications. As a result, Bishop O’Reilly will shortly receive ‘‘Apple 2-E” computers with disc drives, letter-quality printers, and other soft- ware. According to Ronald Slusser, who Cinitiated the grant for the west-side high school, the “Apple” system on order is easily expandable in its capabilities. Lisa Orrson, a sophomore of Wyoming Valley West, has been nominated as a school representative to attend the Hugh O’Brien Youth Foundation four-day state seminar to ‘be held in Lancaster in April. The ‘‘HOBY’’ Foun- dation was established to seek out, recognize, and reward leadership potential of high school pupils in Grades K Trophies will be awarded for first and second place; each participant will receive a certificate. Ray Podskoch of Main Street, Swoyersville, a vice president of the United Penn Bank, and regional administrator of the West Side which takes in Kingston, Forty Fort and Back Mountain United Penn Bank and Michael Demko, vice- president in the Marketing Division of the United Penn Bank in Wilkes-Barre, were the principle speakers at the recent Swoyersville Senior Citizens under Project Head at the Holy Trinity Lower Hall on Hughes Street, Swoyers- ville, 3 Both Podskoch and Demko spoke to the Senior Citizens on the 10 percent withholding tax on interest of savings accounts. Following the talk, an open forum was held and answers given by Podskoch and Demko. Both were introduced chairman of the Civic Action Committee and aunt to Ray Podskoch. Angelo Costello is president of the senior citizens.
