‘has received the approval
of the Back Mountain Fire
Association, which is
composed of volunteer
fighting units in all Back
Mountain communities.
The NTVFC also has
specific agreements with
neighboring Kunkle and
Franklin = Twp. fire-
fighting units, and has
“backup” support from
. Triton Volunteer Fire
Company in Tunkhan-
nock; "Mount Zion
Volunteers, = Dallas,
Shavertown .and
Trucksville Companies in
case of need. In addition,
the Franklin-Northmo-
reland Township
Ambulance Association
also has offered its sup-
port to the new volunteer
group. Alan Pugh of
Ransom Road, Orange, is
the fire chief of thenew
unt
Northmoreland Volunteer
Fire Company; Charles
Goble of Centermoreland
is president.
The annual Easter egg
hunt sponsored by the
Mount Zion United
Methodist Church Sunday
School will be held
a.m. All children of the
church and the Mount
Zion community are
welcome to attend.
The Back Country was
saddened by the death of :
John Switzer of Harding
on Sunday, March 6, in
Tyler Memorial Hospital
at Tunkhannock. Funeral
services were held last
Wednesday with Rev. Dr.
Allan Cease, pastor of the
Carverton United
Methodist Charge, of-
ficiating. Interment was
in Fitch's Cemetery.

Nelson Lewis of Mount
Zion UM Church, or
Malcolm Baird of the
Orange UM Church.
Mrs. Jeanne Pugh of
Ransom Road is home
after a stay as a medical
patient at Wilkes-Barre
General Hospital.
Harry Welliver of
Mount Zion was a patient
Orange, who had been a
patient in Nesbitt
Memorial Hospital for
some time, is a guest at
the Leader West Con-
valescent Home in
Kingston. She suffered a
fracture some weeks ago
and her recovery is slow.
Meanwhile, her grandson,
. Paul Brace, son of Mr.
and Mrs. Larry Brace of
Orange, was injured in an
accident at the family
orchards, and was in the
Intensive Care Unit at
Wilkes-Barre General
Hospital at press time.
Miss Irma Goldsmith of
Demunds is a patient in
the Veterans Hospital.
Ray Ramage of West
Pittston was a guest
soloist at the morning
worship service on
Sunday in Mount Zion
Tom Schulze, who is a
junior at Bloomsburg
State College, where he is
pursuing studies for a
degree in political
science, returned Sunday
after spending the week
with his parents, Mr. and
Mrs. Fred Schulze of
Orange Road, Carverton.
Miss Linda Brace, a
senior at Bloomsburg
State College, spent last
week in Fort Lauderdale,
Fla., with several college
classmates. The group
was due back for classes
on Monday.
Don’t forget the annual
ham and cabbage supper
on -Saturday at the
Mountain Grange 567 hall
at the jointure of Orange
and Bodle Roads in
Carverton. Takeouts also
will be available starting
Grange, extend a cordial
invitaiton to all area folk
to attend the fundraiser,
proceeds of which will go
towards improvements of
the Grange Hall.
Kevin John Sabecky of
East Dallas, son of
Thomas and Patty
Sabecky, was baptized at
the worship service on
Sunday, March 6, in East
Dallas United Methodist
Church. Rev. Donald
Walter, pastor of the
Centermoreland UM
Church, officiated.
Friends of Rev. Carlos
Munoz of Damascus will
be glad to learn he was
reported in ‘‘good con-
dition” at press time on
Friday in Mercy Hospital,
Scranton, where he un-
derwent surgery last
week. Rev. Munoz served
pastorate at the
Damascus UM Charge.

Krzanowski, the Car-
verton Monument dealer,
popping buttons off his
chest these days, it’s
understandable! Mr. and
Mrs. Stanley Krzanowski
became grandparents last
week and the proud
grandfather was seen
passing out Dutch
Masters. The
Krzanowski’s daughter
and son-in-law, Mr. and
Mrs. Joesph (Joanne)
Mihalick, Carverton,
became: the parents of a
son, ‘Andrew John, on
March 5, in Nesbitt
Memorial Hospital,
Kingston. Andrew John is
the first grandchild for
the Krzanowskis and the
first born for the new
the second grandchild but
first grandson for the
paternal grandmother.
