The Black Knights trounced the Warriors 48- 14 at the Wyoming gym Saturday night using five pins, two forfeits, a major decision and a draw. The E Knights 98-1b. Jeff Austin flattened Bill Bohn in 2:56, 105-1b. Mark Yaple clamped Ed Gawelko in 4:42 and 112-lb. Rusty Coolbaugh overturned Tony Amato in 1:59 before the Warriors put points on the board. Wyoming’s John Yan- chick flattened 119-1b. Al McDonald in 4:34 for six points. Russ Hendershot (W) and Norm Clancy (LL) battled to a 4-4 draw at 126. At 132, Wayne Rosen- crans upended Mark Bernesky in 2:47 and 138- Ib. Chris Wargo took a major 11-3 win from Warrior Chris Vax- monsky. Quentin Walczak at 145 and Tracy Slocum, 155, gave the Knights six points each on forfeits. The win gave Slocum a 123 win record in his four year high school mat career to set a record as the school boy wrestler with the most wins in Northeastern Pennsyl- vania. The state record is 131 wins set by John Capiello of Ridgeway. Slocum can surpass the record by taking Districts and Regionals to advance to state competition. Wyoming's 167-1b. Rich Ascani took a 10-6 bout from Chris Janucz but the Knights 185-1b. Chuck Garnett clamped Rich Engelman in 2:33. Warrior hwt. Mark Sickler edged Frank Kutz in a close 3-1 bout. In the meet with Crest- wood Wednesday night at the Comets gym, 98-1b. Jeff Austin gave the Knights the first score by taking Jim Mazeika 8-2. The Comets came back to take five of the next six bouts before Lake- Lehman grapplers rallied to take the remaining bouts and pull out a 32-21 win, Saturday night’s meets ended with regular season with: District competition scheduled for the March 4 and 5 weekend, followed by Regionals, March 11 and 12. Lake-Lehman’s Lady Knights edged GAR 52-51 in overtime Friday at their Back Mountain gym and trounced West Side Tech 72-21 Tuesday to tie them for runnerup spot with Dallas going into the final week of league play. With GAR leading 48-46, Lake-Lehman’s Rebecca Clifford hit both ends of a one-and-one with only six seconds remaining in regulation play to tie the game at 48-48 and send it into overtime. Clifford was high scorer with 21 points. In the overtime period, Rhonda Hudzik put one through the nets from the field and made two good shots from the foul line to put the Lady Knights in front 52-50. GAR’s Shawnm Pat- terson missed a chance to tie it up when she fouled in the final second of the overtime but made only one of her two free shots to end the game 52-51. Lake-Noxen There was a very ex- citing game Tuesday night between the Eastern Division Bucks and the Western Division Hawks for the championship. The Hawks captured a 6-0 lead early in the game and despite the Bucks rallying during the second half with 5 points, it wasn’t enough. The Hawks won 13-5. High scorer for the Hawks was Dory Zacharias with 11 points Bowling Hudzik hit the double figure column for the Lady Knights with 15 points, putting six shots through the nets and making a 3-6 from the free stripe. Clifford and Kim Fey scored 17 points each and Gail Austin hit 12 to lead the Lady Knights in their romp over the West Side Tech girls on Tuesday. Lake-Lehman took a first quarter 12-6 lead and went into the locker room at halftime with a 32-11 lead. They outscored the Titans all the way putting in 18 to West Side’s 2 points in the third period and outscoring them 22-8 in the final period. The Lady Knights meet Wyoming Seminary at home Tuesday and go to Dallas to play the Lady Mounts Friday afternoon. It’s almost a ‘must win’ in both contests to hold runnerup spot. The Lake- Lehman girls only loss was to Seton Catholic. while Dave Gordon and Dave Callahan kept the Bucks in the game with two points each. There was a full house of cheering fans who were kept on the edge of their seats until the end of the game. Officials were Ken Carey and Ed Dubil. The coaches have picked their All-Stars. Neifert toppling them for 178-188 (521), W. Harrington hitting 479 and J. Clark posting 478. In the Friday Night Major League a strong G.H. Harris five shut out the Hambos paced by A. Wendel's 223 (596), T. Doughton’s 226 (567), C. Kazokas' 546 and D. Purvin’s 529. The Ham- bo’s S. Bonomo hit the pins for 562 and T. Shalata tumbled them for 524. Big Bens blanked the Beach Combers sparked by J. Curtis’ 215 (585), J. Roan’s 574 and F. Adams 545. Back Mountain Sporting Goods took three points from the CMP’s led by R. Herron's 543. H. Garris added 556 and R. Harned gave 535. G. Kohli’s 533 was high series for the Bermudas, who copped three from Charlie's All Stars, whose K. Spencer scattered wood for 232 (571). C.
