With the help of a caterer, having a party can be as much fun for the hostess as for the guests. This week, Wayne Schmoll, Country’s Best, gives our readers tips on how to plan a successful party. According to Schmoll, the first thing to deter- mine is the number of people. This determines how much food is needed. Then the budget must be considered. The frozen food department of the store carries institution-size packages of many items which allow the consumer to buy large quantities at lower prices. Schmoll is the exclusive area distributor of Leona Brand Meats, Troy. Leona Brand Meats was started 30 years ago and features the finest fresh meats, deli products, homemade sausage, lean hickory smoked bacon, country style smoked hams. The store also includes a branch of Royal Bakery where a large variety of delicious goodies can be purchased. Schmoll says that his business is really a three- part business, fresh meats, frozen foods and catering. The Schmolls got into catering when they opened Country’s Best progressing from the meat and cheese tray to adding salads, then add- ing hot items. They have held fund raisers as far away as Hazleton, Freeland and Bradford County and have served as many as 1,000 people. A local native, Wayne and his wife, Judy, live in Dallas. The couple has one son Mark, an eighth grade student at Dallas Junior High School. The Schmolls are members of Huntsville Christian Church. For our readers, Sch- moll has provided us with two easy, delicious recipes, Sweet and Sour Meatballs and Baked Chicken and Rice, a recipe of Judy’s. BAKED CHICKEN AND RICE 1 can cream of celery soup 1 can cream of chicken soup 1 can cream of mushroom soup Minute rice unbreaded chicken ten- ders 1 pkg. Lipton onion soup Cover the bottom of a glass baking dish with Minute rice. Heat all the cream soups together and pour over rice. Cover with chicken tenders and then sprinkle top with Lipton onion soup. Bake at 350 degrees for approxi- mately 45 minutes. SWEET AND SOUR MEATBALLS 3 lb. precooked 2 oz. meatballs 12 oz. jar Bennetts Chili Sauce Relish 120 oz. jar Welch’s grape jelly Heat meatballs in a 350 degree oven for 2 hour. Combine chili sauce relish and grape jelly in a sauce- pan until jelly is melted. Pour over meatballs. Fantastic for hors d’oeuvres or great on a buffet table. The events include an assembly Monday, Feb. 7, at which a proclamation by Mayor Charles Bankes declaring Feb. 6-12 as “Catholic Schools Week’ in Kingston was read by Kenneth P. Johnson, administrator of Kingston. On Wednesday, Feb. 9, Open House will be * conducted. Report cards will be presented to parents in the main office, and teachers will be available for parental conferences from 3-5 p.m. and 6:30-8:30 p.m. The week will conclude with a Eucharistic cele- bration, Friday, at which time the faculty and staff will engage in a special ceremony to rededicate themselves to daily ex- cellence in the per- formance of their duties. ® Rev. and Mrs. Donald Walter of Centermoreland will observe their 37th wedding anniversary on Wednesday, Feb. 16. They were married on February 16, 1946, in St. John’s Episcopal Church at Arden, N.Y., by Rev. George Dumbell, pastor at the time. Mrs. Walter is the former Miss Natalie Eden, daughter of the late John Jay and Martha Vickery Eden of Harriman, N.Y. Rev. Mr. Walter is the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. William M. and Maude Walter of Beres- ford, S.D. Rev.
