in Athens, Pa. She is
pursuing studies for her
master’s degree at Mary-
wood College in Scranton.
Quarterly
meeting of the North-
moreland Baptist Church
at Centermoreland will be
held Wednesday evening,
Jan. 12, following the 7:30
midweek prayer service.
Rev. James Howell is
pastor.
Workmen last week
began the job of installing
vinyl siding at the Car-
verton United Methodist
for the project and contri-
butions should be sent to
the church, in care of Mrs.
Hildegarde Parrish,
financial secretary of fhe

the County Treasurer’s
Office.
Under the law,
exemptions and adjust-
ments have been made to
the dog license fees.
Owners of guide dogs,
hearing dogs and handi-
cap aid dogs are not
subject to license fees, but
are required to license
age 65 and older pay only
half-price for their dog
licenses. ‘Senior citizens
should be prepared to
show proof of their age
when applying for a dog
license,” said Hallowell.
The new law also
provides - for lifetime
licenses for dogs under
certain conditions, at $10
for spayed and neutered
dogs and $20 for all other
dogs.

mourning the passing of
two prominent Noxen
residents, Ray Dendler,
who pased away last week
at Wilkes-Barre General
Hospital, and Mrs. Ella
Weber, who died on Dec.
24. Sympathy is extended

welcomed in the New
service Sunday morning.

Year. At the Sunday
evening service at 7:30,

Women’s groups of
Mount Zion United
Methodist Church pre-
sented a new tape of
Christmas hymns for the
church carillon. The two
Christmas wreaths that
adorned the entrance to
Mount. Zion Church were
gifts presented by
Wendell and Shirley
Conklin of Mount Zion.
Area residents are
mourning the passing of
Mrs. Jean Hronich of
Sympathy is extended her
family.
Mr. and Mrs. Stephen
Bowers of Delavan, N.Y.
spent the Christmas
weekend with their son-in-
law and daughter, Rev.
and Mrs. James Howell
and family of Center-
moreland, then left to
spend the winter at
Zephyrills, Fla.
Northmoreland Volun-
teer Fire Company will
meet Tuesday evening
(Jan. 11) at 8 in the new
fire hall in Centermore-
land. Work on the new
firehouse is progressing
nicely and fire company
members are looking
forward to a formal
dedication in early
Spring. Charles Goble is
president of the fire
company.
Joseph Buzunis,
stationed with the ' Air
Force at the Griffis Air
Force base at Rome,
N.Y., is recuperating at
the home of his parents,
Mr. and Mrs. Joseph
Buzunis, Sr. Buzunis is
recovering from injuries
received in an accident at
the Air Base several
months ago.
Mr. and Mrs. Ronald
Bowers and daughters,
Stephanie and Lynn of
Horseheads, N.Y., spent
Christmas with Mr.
Bowers’ brother-in-law
and sister, Rev. and Mrs.
James Howell and family
of Centermoreland. Other
guests at the Howell
residence were Mr. and
Mrs. Laird Murtoff and
daughters Penny and Kim
of Gardners, Pa., who re-
turned Thursday after
several days here.
Lynn and Leslie Wolfe
spent the holiday
weekends with their
parents, Mr. and Mrs.
George Parrish of Car-
verton. Lynn is associated
with UGI at Valley Forge.

versus Sonics, the Hawks
won 22-6. High scorer for
the Hawks was Dory
Zacharias with 14 points,
while Mike Barber, Harry
Loéffler and T.J. Zerfoss
each made two points for
the Sonics. Ther referees
for this game. were Ken
Carey and Rod Zerfoss.
In the final two games
the Bucks defeated the
Warriors and the Knicks
defeated the 76’ers. High
scorer for the Bucks was
Dave Gordon and high
Chris Engle. Referees for
these two games were
Armonde Casagrande and
Ken Carey.
Shippensburg State
College and will return
this weekend to resume.
