Coslett said, “I do not agree in increases in ad- vance. Just like any other state agency or depart- ment, the commission should be held account- able to the public, and if in the future they need more money, come back later’. Coslett added that “fishing is very much a family sport, and the pro- posed increases will cause a hardship on the families of our economically de- pressed area who partici- pate in this activity’’. Don’t forget important Federal Energy Tax Credits SAVE Dallas Cagers all set Dallas cagers will open their 1981-82 season Nov. 27, under Coach Clint Brobst ‘and Assistant Coach Carl Sutton when they meet the Wyoming Warriors on the Moun- taineers court. “We lost four starters through graduation so we have a lot of young players. It's early to predict what they'll be able todo but they are a bunch of determined athletes,” said Brobst. “We have 17 players on the roster, five of them seniors. They are Tim Guzek, Mike Smith; Andy Manusky, Brian Cutter and Gary Kirk. Guzek, Smith and Manusky saw quite a lot of action last season but ‘Cutter and Kirk played only a little. ‘““‘We have only two juniors, Ken Adams and Steve Thomas, who played junior varsity last year. Sophomores Tim Grove and Dave Thomas will play varsity for us this year. The rest of our sophomores will play JV's this season, as it looks now.”’ These sophomores are Ed Gorey, Greg Manusky, Dale Fitch, Greg Oliver and Joe Simon. ' Dallas also has three freshmen on the roster this season, Mark Farrell, Matt Medura and Steve Wilson. “We're only an average size team this year,” said Brobst. Manusky at 65” is our tallest player. Tim Guzek and Mike Smith are 6’1” and Steve Thomas is 6’2”’. We're counting on these three for rebounds.” Brobst said this year’s team is a slow team but a better shooting team than last season’s. ‘‘At least they have displayed more selective shooting in practice. “We have a tough exhibition season and we are counting on that for the boys to gain some experience. By the time the league season opens Jan. 5 with’ GAR, they should be reasonably sharp. “They work well together and have a lot of determination. They're not the most talented but they put forth great team effort. © Teamwork and selective shooting will be the key factor in our winning games. “Tim Guzek is the most improved player and sophomores Tim Grove and Dave Thomas are doing some good work for us.” Brobst said he believes the two powerhouse teams in the league this year will be GAR and Meyers. Each team lost only one player. He doesn’t * believe the Mountaineers will be on top but he does believe they should finish in the top half of the nine teams in the league this year. Following the game with Wyoming, the Mountaineers will meet the Queensmen in exhibition at home, Dec. 1, then Weatherly Dec. 4, on the Dallas court. ‘They will travel to Montrose on Dec. 8 before entering the Tunkhannock Tourna- ment Dec. 15 and 16. Both the varsity’ and javees enter the Tunkhannock: Tournament. The Mountaineers will host Old Forge at home, Dec. 17, then return to Tunkhannock for tour- nament competition Dec. 18 and Dec. 19. They will be host team in the UNICO Tour- nament at home Dec. 28 and Dec. 30 to end the exhibition season. The nine teams in Class AA this season are Dallas, GAR, West Side Tech, Wyoming Seminary, Crestwood, Hanover, Seton Catholic, Meyers and Lake-Lehman. “This should be a rewarding year as a coach,” said Lake- Lehman Basketball Coach: Rodger Bearde. “We have a young team and it will give great satisfaction to watch ‘the kids improve. “We have only four returning lettermen--s- eniors Joe Kishkill, Dave Kleban, Bill Radonavitch and Brian Yanchick--but none of them starters. These seniors will be the key to our season. Kishkill is one of the better players in the league in scoring and leadership. He's an in- telligent player and does a lot on the floor the fans don’t notice. He is a good team player. “We have 17 on the Nov. 30 OPENFOR BREAKFAST 4:00 A.M. Dec. 1 Your Every roster this season. In addition to our seniors there are juniors Chris Boyle, John Corbett, Tom Davis and Bob Garinger. The sophomores are Doug Barbacci, Scott Drugotch, Ray Iwanowski, Paul Jones, Tom Kukosky, Al Michaels, Marty Onzik and Bob Robey. Bill Bearde, a freshman, is also on the roster. Bearde does not have a big team this season. Yanchick at 6’3’’, 210 pounds, is the biggest. - “The key to our success is to gain a lot of qucik experience in our exhibition season. “I'm pleased with the boys willingness to follow through and work hard on offense and defense. Following a cham- pionship team they're determined to prove they can have a respectable season. By January the boys should be playing consistent basketball and by Feb. 25 fans should look for a good game between Dallas and Lake- Lehman.” Bearde said the Class AA Division is very strong this year, in fact he believes it ‘may be stronger than the AAA Division. “It should be an in- teresting year, there are a lot ‘of young players around ‘on most of the teams.” The Knights open their exhibition season Nov. 24 with’ Elk Lake at home, then host Bishop Hoban Nov. 27. They go to Central Columbia Dec. 1 and return home fo play Valley West Dec. 4. Wyoming Area will meet the Knights Dec. 8 on the Back Mountain Court. = The local cagers will meet Tunkhannock Dec. 10 on the Tigers floor, then play Montrose at home Dec. 15. The Knights will open the league season against Hanover Jan. 5 on the Hawkeyes court and play Meyers at home Jan. 8. Bearde’s junior varsity coach is Richard Morgan. Freshman coach is Michael Sharok and seventh and eighth grade coach, Robert Roberts.
