Academic and Athletic
Awards Night on
Tuesday, June 2nd in the
school auditorium.
All seventh and eighth
grade students who had
achieved a B-plus
average or better during
the academic year were
commended and received

certificates of honor.
Eighth grade students:
who were honored with
plaques for exceptional
scholastic ability were:
Lynn Austin, Highest
Average for Girls; Paul
Hartzel, Highest Average
for Boys and Social
Flynn, award for Science
and an award for

Mathematics; Paul
Segrave-Daly, award for
Religion; and Adele
Correale, award for
English. Lynn Austin and
John Spencer received the
American Legion awards.
Eighth grade students
who participated in
basketball
cheerleading received
special jackets to
acknowledge their ex-
tracurricular activities.
The 'boy’s varisty
basketball team had an
undefeated season and
were the West Side
and
Champions of their
league. Each member of
the championship team
received a special trophy
for this accomplishment.
The team and their
coaches, Walter Blejwas
and Joe Boyle, presented
the school with the
championship trophy.
The prize winning 7th
and 8th grade
Mathematics teams
presented their trophies
to the school and gave
Sister Lucian, RSM, the
7th and 8th grade math
teacher, a gift.
Father William
Langan, assistant pastor
at Gate of Heaven
students and their guests
after the Awards
ceremonies.
The evening closed with
light refreshments served
to the parents, faculty and
students present.

Class and Awards Night
was celebrated at Lake-
Lehman High School,
Wednesday, June 3. The
evening opened with a roll
call, an introduction of all
seniors participating in
class night. This was
followed by singing of the
class song with words
written by senior Mary
Stefanowicz.
The highest ranking boy
and girl in the senior class
were presented a
scholarship award by the
Harveys Lake Women’s
Club. Recipients of these
awards were Karen
Williams and David
Penkrot. The Lake Silk-
worth Lioness Citizenship
Award was presented to
Michael DeCesaris and
Mary Stefanowicz.
The Hazel Baer Award,
founded in memory of the
deceased member of the
Lake-Lehman faculty,
was bestowed upon Karen
Williams for her
proficiency in
mathematics. The Lake-
Lehman Education
Association Scholarship
was presented to Ron

Player and Mike
Leskowsky was presented
a citation from the
Pennsylvania Senate for
his outstanding
achievements in the
athletic program.

awards were received by

Sandra Nichols, Debbie
Symonds, Phyllis
Szurgocinski and Jackie
