Mrs. Marian Rubin- stein, New York, member of the Board of Directors of the National, Guild of Decoupeurs, with headquarters in Grosse Pointe, Michigan, will be the guest of honor at the opening of the exhibit and reception on Saturday, Oct. 18, 2-6 p.m. in the Gallery at 381 North Main Street (corner Curtis Street), Pittston. Mrs. Rubinstein, a nationally known artist in her field, as well as other members of the National Guild, the New England Guild and the Delaware Valley Chapter of the National Guild, and our own local artists in decoupage will exhibit their work. Decoupage is the art of decorating surfaces with image paper cut-outs. A great variety of prints can be used under varnish or glass or with no varnish, or on the glass, porcelain or any variety of surfaces. A 300-year old art originated in Italy when, unable to obtain desired media, Italians started using paper cut-outs under varnish.
