eA i ni — FINEST (Photo by Mark Moran) Kingston Twp. Bobcats journeyed to Shickshinny on Sunday to play Nor- thwest Eagles and came home with three wins 8-0, 14-0, and 12-6. Bobcats “C” team had a defensive struggle with Eagles in their 8-0 win. Bobcats younger and first year players keep getting better each week with their blocking and tackling. Bobcats score came on an end sweep by quarterback Steven Shotwell. Extra points were scored by Shotwell on a quarterback sneak. Also running for good yardage during game was John Hutchins. Bobcats defensive standouts were Ricky Davenport, Steve and Todd Lenahan. Bobcats ‘‘B’’ team upped its record to 5-1 in downing the Eagles 14-0. Defensive safety Chris Nulton got Bobcats on scoreboard during Eagles first possession when he intercepted an Eagles pass and ran it 26 yards for a score. Try for extra points failed. Bobcats scored on their second series on a beautiful 53 yard pass play from ' quarterback Marty Kriner to Billy Mathers only to be called back for a holding penalty. Bobcats hit the end zone again just before the end of first half on another pass play from Kriner to Mathers. the 15 yard line and with some beautiful cuts and running crossed into the end zone. Extra points were scored “by “Bryan Maseychik on a pass from Kriner. The half ended 14- 0 Bobcats. Bobcats second string offensive and defensive backs took over in the second half with a score of 14-0. Although not puut- ting any points on the scoreboard they moved the ball and the defense played its tremendous and steady game. Game ended 14-0 Bobcats. Bobcats scratch and claw ‘‘A” team put another win in their column with tremendous defense and fine blocking and running on offense. Eagles scored first on a 40 yard pass to Mike Walsh. Try for extra points failed. Bobcats defense was tested severely the whole first half when the offense kept turning the ball over to the Eagles deep in their owdl territory time after time, but each time the Bobcats defense stopped the Eagles cold and the half ended 6-0 Eagles. Bobcats defense picked A football spectacular was created by the Dallas Cowboys “A” team against the Northeast Crusaders Sunday at the Dallas field. The excellent playing by the offensive team led by quarterbacks Ken Thompson and Keith Hillard brought a Dallas victory by a score of 36-8. It was a running and passing game for Dallas with touchdowns made by James Patts, Steve Brace, Mark McLaughlin and Stan Kroprowski. Extra points were made by Ken Thompson and Keith Hillard. The devastating power of the Dallas Cowboys defensive team kept the Crusaders to one touch- down, and two extra points. The offensive and defensive lines of the Cowboys made it all possible for the fine game that was played by the Dallas Cowboys. The fine playing of Mark Coolbaugh, Chris Dreher, John Harris, Rich Holthaus, Mike Janosik, Bob O’Donnell, Jeff Olsen, Jamie Opalicki, Matt Roberts, Pretko, Dave Mark Rogers, Steve Wilson, and Charlie Young showed great offensive and defensive playing by the Cowboys. Thanks must be given to a beautiful squad of cheerleaders who checied the boys to victory. From the opening kick- off to the very last play of the game, the Dallas Cowboys “B’”’ team fought the unbeaten Northeast Crusaders only to be defeated by the more powerful team. The aggressiveness of the offense and the holding power of( the powerful Dallas defense held the Crusaders to a up where they left off and stopped the Eagles cold entire second half with great defense effort. Offense finally settled down and started moving the ball behind the run- ning of Darin Breining, Jeff Brin, and Pat McDermott. Jeff took it in for a score with the extra points failing, making the score 6-6. Bobcats got the winning touchdown with 35 seconds left on clock when Darin Breining bulled his way into the end zone for the score. Try for extra points failed. Score was 12-6 Bobcats. Eagles tried four straight passes but were denied by Bobcats defense and tremendous pressure’ on ‘quarterback from nose guard Gary Vincelli, who spent much of day in the Eagle back- field. Bobcats ran out the clock and got the win 12-6. Luncheon guests Mr. and Mrs. James Turner, Sherman Oaks, Calif., were recent guests at a luncheon given by Mr. and Mrs. Abram Nesbitt, II, of Lake Catalpa, Dallas. Borrowdale Acres Exceptional Riders’ Club recently held its first major fundraising project. The event was the Handicapper Horsepower Ride-a-thon and Raffle. Robby Ceselsky brought in the most sponsor money. Sherry Pudim sold the most foie tickets. Kathy einhart and Andrea Lanning, both members of the Showin’ Blue 4-H Club, completed the 15- mile trail ride in the shortest time. The Showin’ Blue 4-H Club won a trophy for being the largest par- ticipating group. Jill and Tammy Archavage were awarded T-shirts for being the most faithful volunteers. ' The $100 first prize was won by Bill Youngblood, Shavertown. The winning ticket was sold by Terry prize was awarded to Judy Masaites and was purchased from Janie Cocco. Winning the $25 third prize was Joann Litwak, who bought her ticket from Sherry Pudim. The $25 fourth prize was won by Michel Sabadish and that ticket was sold by Joe Kaminsky. After the ride, everyone stayed for a weiner roast. Other participants in the Ride-a-thon included Stephen Fronzcek, John Paul Bielecki, and David Galli. All participants received a Handicapper Horsepower T- Shirt. Pittston Patriots easily handled the Lake-Lehman Knights last Saturday afternoon at the Back Mountain field to take a 36-6 win. “What can you say about a game when the score is so one-sided?’ said Knights Coach Tom Hisiro. “We're disappointed-- it’s a big loss midway into the season. They out- t yvaginamald npaxs Mountaineer Ron Kelley's value on offense was evident Friday night when the Dallas squad went against Nanticoke and came out on short end of the 34-12 score. “We knew with Kelley out of the lineup due to injuries, we would have problems,” said ‘Dallas Coach Ron Rybak, ‘but going into the game we thought the boys would do better than they did. “Kelley is our key man on offense and defense and with him out of the game, we had to play our sophomores and we just couldn’t move. They are good athletes but they lack experience and they're not ready to go all the way. “We started the game with four inexperienced sophomores.
