St. Andrew’s Orthodox
Church, Huntsville Road,
Dallas will have the
blessing of cars on Sun-
day, July 6 at 11 a.m. and
1 p.m. at the church
parking area. Cupolas
surmonted with a three
bar cross will be given as
a reminder that drivers
should practice courtesy
on the road. The cupolas
have been donated by Al
Lipko. For more in-
formation call 675-2777.
A covered dish luncheon
will be held on the church
lawn following the 9:30
a.m. Divine Liturgy on
July 6. Those wishing to
attend are asked to bring
a covered dish meal and

29 at the Carverton
church to celebrate “Love
Sunday.” Covenant love
for the church was in-
dicated as church
members wore colored
badges marking their
years of membership and
service in their respective
churches. Colors ranged
from white for new
members to purple and
gold for 50-year members:
Mrs. John Perry was
honored for being an
active member of the
church longer than
anyone else present (76
years), and Mrs. Ezra
Rozelle was similarly
honored for 68 years of
church membership.
Covenant love for the
family was celebrated by
recognizing all couples
married at least 50 years.
The Rev. Dr. Allan J.
Cease, pastor, preached
on the theme, ‘What the
World Needs Now,” and a
combined choir sang the
anthem, “The Love of My
Lord to Me.’ The service
concluded with a renewal
of marriage vows by all
married couples present
and a renewal of the
congregations’ covenant
with God.

United Methodist Homes
Guild, Wilkes-Barre
District, met Tuesday,
June 24, to evaluate the
Spring Festival and
Bazaar held at the
Tunkhannock Methodist
Manor on May 9 and 10
this year and to lay the
format for the 1981 Spring
Festival and Bazaar.
Proceeds from the
festival this year were in
- excess of $2,688.
May 8 and 9 were the
dates set for the 1981
Spring Festival.

the booths of the 1981

tino will be heard on Sun-
day, July 6, at 8 p.m.
Gold Medal band has been
a mainstay of en-
tertainment for man
years and marks the 28th
appearance. Their ren-
ditions are varied and inc-
lude concert marches and
light opera.
Rev. Andrew Pillarella
of the Trinity United
Presbyterian Church,
Dallas, will conduct the
vesper service.
There will be a concert
every Sunday evening for
a_ total of eight weeks.
The concerts are without
charge and everyone is
welcome.
Orpheus Choral Society
will present a concert at
the Irem Temple Country
Club pavilion at 8 p.m.
Sunday, July 13, the
original Orpheus con-
sisted of male members
only until 1952 when it in-
vited ladies to par-
ticipate.
During the following
years, many outstanding
musicians and soloists
were engaged including
Thomas i Thomas,
Jerome, Hines, Ferranti
and Teischer. Orpheus is
the only singing group in
Wyoming Valley not af-
filiated with a sponsoring
group.
