Bruce, 66, of Pioneer Avenue, Dallas died Thursday May 29, in Wilkes-Barre General Hospital, following an iliness. Born in Nanticoke, Oct. 20, 1913, a son of the late Michael and Mary Biel Bruce. He has been a resident of the Back Mountain area the past 40 years. For the past 30 the Bruce Tool and Dye Shop, Shavertown. He was a member of the Shavertown United Methodist Church ;.a charter member of the Back Mountain Protective Association; past president of the Harveys lake Lions Club; member of George M. Dallas Lodge F&AM; Caldwell Consistory; anc Irem Temple. Surviving are his wife, the former Joan Morgan; sisters, Mrs. Harold Kirkendall and Mrs. George Abraham, both of Wilkes- Barre; several nephews. Private funeral services were held from the Harold C. Snowdon Funeral Home, 140 N. Main St., Shavertown, with Rev. Dr. Jule Ayers, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church, Wilkes. in Oak Lawn Cemetery, Hanover Township. John Higgins was member of Local 158 John W. Higgins, 59, of Chase, died Wednesday, May 28 in Nesbitt Memorial Hospital, Kingston. Born in Wilkes-Barre, he resided in Chase the last 27 years. He was employed as a laborer for the Laborers Local 158 for five years. Trudgen, 88, of 63 Yeager Ave., Shavertown, died May 28 at the home of his daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Bryce Lewis, with whome he resided for the past month. Born in Swoyersville, he was the son of the late Richard and Katherine Abbey Trudgen. He lived most of his life in the Back Mountain area and lived for six years in Luzerne. Prior to retiring in 1960, he was employed around local coal mines for 49 years, last working at Payne Coal Company. ‘His wife, the former Lillian Knell, died March 28, 1979. Surviving besides his daughter, are sons, Richard, Fort Worth, Texas; Kenneth, Courtdale; Leroy, Kingston, George and Leslie, both of Dallas; daughter, Mrs. Richard Nero, Plains; step- son, Phillip Pope, Dallas; 19 grandchildren; 24 great-grand- children; sister, Mrs. Mary Mustapich, Swoyersville. The infant had been transported to Geisinger after she was intially taken to Nesbitt Memorial Hospital, where she spent several hours in the emergency room and the intensive care unit. She was born June 11, 1978 in Wilkes-Barre, daughter of Joel and Cathleen Anderson Bell, who survive her. Also surviving are maternal grandparents, Floyd and Catherine Bednar Anderson, Wilkes-Barre; her paternal grandparents, Walter and Bernice Zardus Bell, Dunkirk, N.Y.; and several brothers and sisters, Mary, Joel, Walter, Nicholas and Michael, all at home. The funeral was held Saturday. Interment was in St. Mary's Cemetery, Hanover Township. Florida resident was former Back Mt. man Richard M. Lloyd, 2887 S.E. Delmar St., Stuart, Fla., died Thursday, May 22 in Martin Memorial Hospital following an extended illness. He was a native of Scranton, Pa., and was a long-time resident of Spring St., Shavertown, moving to Florida six years ago. He was a member of A.T.U. Greyhound Retirees Club of Florida. He was retired from 40 years service to Greyhound in 1970. He issurvived by his wife Rita, of Stuart; two brothers, Elbert ofMiami and William of Melville, Long Island, N.Y.
