We Fill Pools... x» Clean » Fast Darren 'Barbacci, junior at Lake-Lehman High School, is relatively new to the district having transferred to Lake- Lehman from Bishop O'Reilly at the beginning of the 1979-80 school year. The son of Mr. and Mrs. Basil Barbacci, RD 5, Dallas, Darren has ad- justed well to the Back Mountain high school and its program of study. He is an honor roll student with a 3.1 average. Darren, this week’s In the Spotlight student for the Dallas Post, has an older sister, Daria, student at Luzerne County two younger brothers, students at Gate of Heaven, Dallas. Darren was a member of the Bishop O’Reilly wrestling team and baseball team and when he transferred to Lake- Lehman, Darren con- tinued to take part in both sports. During the past wrestling season, Darren wrestled at 105-lb. and, currently he plays second base on the high school’s baseball team. Darren plans to attend college following graduation in 1981 and major in pre-med. L-L board to meet The regular monthly meeting of the Lake- Lehman Board of School Directors will be held on Tuesday, May 13, at 8 p.m. in Room 2-2A of the Lake-Lehman High School. | Angelo P. DeCesaris, president, will preside. His parents are the owners of Castle Inn and Darren is learning to do restaurant cooking. He works with his father part year and more regularly during the summer. When he has time, Darren likes to water ski or play golf, usually at Lehman Golf Course or the Wilkes-Barre Municipal Golf Course. Wrestling takes all of his free time from November to March. Darren recently re- turned from the school trip to London. He also has toured most of the United States and likes the western part of the country best, especially Colorado. This summer Darren will work in the restaurant and also plans to wrestle in several tournaments. Darren said Lake- Lehman High School is- like entering a different world after attending Bishop O'Reilly. ‘‘The atmosphere is more informal,”’ said Darren “And the faculty makes more sense. The school is closer to home and easily accessible. “I'm very happy with the school the way it is. It’s all too new for me to have any complaints. a Tunkhannock Junior Women’s Club will sponsor their second annual Spring Jogathon Sunday, May 11, at the Tunkhannock Area High School: Track. PAGE SEVENTEEN Beth McCue, junior at Dallas Senior = High School, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Paul McCue, Dallas. Beth has two older sisters, Sue, student at Brandywine College; and Diana, em- ployed by Pennsylvania Gas and Water Company in Wilkes-Barre. She also has an older brothet, Paul, who is associated in business with his father, Dallas Auto Parts, Memorial Highway, Dallas. Beth moved to the Back Mountain with her family from Allentown in 1973 when Beth was a fifth grade student. After she graduates from high school in 1981, Beth plans to attend either Brandy- wine or Keystone Junior College to major in business. A member of the senior high school varsity cheer- leading squad, Beth has been a cheerleader since eighth grade. She also is a member of the girls track team. She runs the two two mile run. Beth is.a member of the junior class steering committee and also is a member of the student council which takes a lot of her time. During the summer Beth likes to swim prefer- ably in a pool. In the winter when conditions are good, she likes to ski and usually goes to Elk Mountain. She jogs about five to six miles daily. Bet likes music also enjoys movies. Her favorite films are comedies or romances. She likes to travel and has been to Canada, Texas, Delaware, Mary- land, Wildwood, New Jersey, Philadelphia, New York and Virginia. Beth passed her driver’s test and received August and usually drives to and from school. This summer she plans to go to cheerleading camp and sometime the summer months hopes to go away on vacation. Beth says Dallas High School is smaller than most of the schools in the area and, for that reason, she says the students know one another and get along well. She also said the school is cleaner than most. Beth said the school should have a better sports program and that there should be more funding for sports. 3 The Dallas School District announces that a “Welcome to Kin- dergarten Night” will be held on Wednesday, May 21, at 7:30 p.m. in the Dallas Township Elementary School for all incoming kindergarten parents of students who Dallas Township School. The Gate of Heaven gymnastic team is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. The block party is the hospital’s way of teaching the community about health while at the same time providing fun and entertainment.
