Services leading up to the Resurrection of Christ and Easter Sunday will get underway in the Centermoreland UM Charge on Maundy Thursday when the service will be held at 7:30 p.m. at the Dymond Hollow UM Church. Allan Cease, Youth Fellowship of Centermoreland = United Methodist Church is completing plans for a benefit hoagie sale to be held Wednesday (April 2) in the church social rooms. Orders for the hoagies can be placed no later than tomorrow with any member of the Centermoreland UMYF or the counselors, Miss Donna Munoz or Mr. and Mrs. - John Headley. Patrons are asked to pick up their hoagie orders Wednesday morning or before 2 p.m. Centermoreland UMYF also will have two teams entered in the annual UM Volleyball tournament, which will take place in the Dallas Senior High gym on Sundays, April 13- 20, the Junior High tourney taking place on Sunday, April 13, and the Senior High tourney scheduled for Sunday afternoon, April 20. Easter Sunday morning at 6 at the East Dallas United Methodist Church for all members of the Charge. Easter Sunday morning services in the three Centermoreland UM Charge churches will take place as follows: in East Dallas UM Church at 9; Dymond Hollow at 10, and in Centermoreland UM Church at 11:15. The Blood Drive held last Tuesday at Lake Leh- man Senior High School was one of the most successful collections held in the Back Mountain area. 365 people came to give blood to assist Bill Simms and 313 units of blood were collected and will be processed by the American Red Cross blood services. Among the many groups represented by the donors were Com- monwealth Telephone Co., Offset Paperback Company, Lake Lehman High School faculty and students, Gate of Heaven Church, St. Frances Cabrini Church, Kunkle Methodist Church, Trinity Presbyterian Church, Shavertown Methodist Church, Prince of Peace Church, "Native Textile Co., Sweet Valley Church of Christ,Dallas Methodist “Hope and Hostility” a look at the Triumphal Entry of Christ to Jerusalem and the week that followed will be the theme of the Palm Sunday services on the Lehman United Methodist Charge. There will be special music. Palms will be distributed. The Union Lenten service will be at Lehman at 7:30 p.m. and will be a time of special music and congregational hymn singing. The Pastor’s Con- firmation Class originally scheduled for Palm Sunday will not be held. During the respective Sunday School hours interested members of the church are invited to discuss with the Con- firmation class members- “What it means to be a Christian.” After each service members of the congregation are invited to discuss the possibility of changing charge boundaries. Bishop James M. Ault will be the speaker at the Union Lenten Service at St. Stephens Episcopal Church, Wilkes-Barre at 12:05 p.m. on Wednesday, April 2. The Back Mountain Clergy Association will meet at 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday, April 1. The Idetown Confidence Class will have its Bir- thday Dinner at the Mark II at 6 p.m. on April 1. The Lehman Friendship Class will meet at 8 p.m. on April 1. The movie ‘“‘Jesus’’ will be shown at the Forty- Fort Theatre each night from March 28 to April 11. Simms, who is an outpatient at Geisinger Medical Center, was able to come to the high school and greet many of the donors. Mr. and Mrs. Simms extended their thanks to everyone who came and gave blood, the gift of life. PAGE NINE Jane Goodwin and Linda Major, co- chairmen of the drive, also reported that the bake sale that was held was a sell out. The funds from the sale were given to the Simms family to help meet the costs of Medical treatment. Center for Don Hartshorne, Trucksville, was licensed as pastor of the West Market Street Baptist Church, Scranton, on Sunday, March 23. The license was presented by Rev. Aston, former pastor of the church. An in- stallation and reception for Hartshorne is planned for April 27. D He graduated from Bloomsburg State College in May and is now a full- time student at Eastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Philadelphia.
