Kaleshefski opened a special exhibit of his drawings and sculptures at College Misericordia last Sunday in a show that will be held at the college through March 23. The exhibit, housed in the Art Gallery, includes a number of experimental drawings that explore new techniques in collage, cutout work, and sewing, as well as a series of bronzes exectted by Kaleshefski while studying at the Foundry, S.U.N.Y., Binghamton. The sculpted pieces are comprised of figurative works of women ‘‘who have touched my life.” One pice, “Alice,” is a tribute to the late Alice Welsh Jenkins, an artist who lived and worked in Kingston. Other pieces of sculpture reflect the experimentation exhi- bited in the drawings. In discussing his work, Kaleshefski points out his “joy in exploring the possibilities of uniting idea with material. To begin with just a flicker, a passing though, a mental image that comes to me as I am running and to carry that image into a physical presence in some material. .sthat is the joy of my existence.” Kaleshefski’s show at Misericordia will be open to the public at no charge from 1 to 4 each day of the exhibit. The Art Gallery is located on the fourth floor of the college's Administration Building. SCRANTON-WILKES BARRE — MEMBER FDIC — Florence H.
