of King’s College will be
conducting Lenten ser-
vices again this year for
the residents at the State
Correctional Institution at
Chase.
According to the
Catholic chaplain, Father
Clement Podskoch, CSC,
this is the 19th year that
the priests have come
from King’s to minister to
the inmates. Seven priests
will be available for
various services
throughout the six-week
period.
Lenten services began
on Ash Wednesday with a
special Mass and homily
by Father Podskoch, who
conducts the regular
Sunday services. His
fellow priests from King’s
will celebrate Mass and
preach on Fridays;
during Holy Week the
special seasonal rites will
be ‘held, culminating in
the Easter Vigil service
on Holy Saturday night.
On Tuesdays, Stations of
the Cross are held for
residents.
“It is our privilege to
benefit from the services
of my brother-priests,’”’
said Father Podskoch.
“They look forward with
great pleasure to join with
us in our annual Lenten
celebration.”
The priests, familiar to
Back Mountain residents
from their visits to area
churches, are Fathers
Lozinski, Desharnais,
Roche, D’Alonzo, Carten,
Kazlauskas and Doyle.
Among them, they
represent well over a
century of service to
King’s and the parishes of
the Back Mountain.

Jones University in 1974

three year terms.

His wife, the former
Rebekah Anne Wesson,
whom he married in 1974,
was born in West Ten-
nessee in 1953. She
received her B.A. in
English from BJU in 1974
and was a copy editor for
the textbook division,
BJU Press from 1974-79.
Mr. and Mrs. Short
have one daughter, Katie
Elizabeth, who was born
on December 8, 1979.

brings life-shaping
lessons of the Bible into
today’s world. There are
crafts, puzzles, games,
posters, tapes and film
strips, all geared to
reinforce each lesson.
Every Sunday each
class will study a lesson
based on the same theme
but adapted for each
student’s age level. The
theme will change each
week and the children’s
closing exercises will
correspond with that
week’s theme.
Huntsville Christian
Church presently has
nursery up to and in
cluding three adult
classes. Persons are most
welcome to come and
participate in a class of
their choosing.
The Religious Con-
sultation Center of the
Sisters of Mercy in Dallas
will have a Lenten
Weekend Retreat March 7
through 9. The Retreat
will be held at Mercy
Center. It will begin on
Friday evening at 7:30
p.m. and end on Sunday at
