The Gatorettes clinched first half honors by beating St. Jude’s, Mountaintop 15-11 and by dumping Wyoming Seminary 22-8. Leah Slattery and Kim Yan- chick tallied 13 points between them to pace the win against St. Judes. Pam Solinski played an outstanding defensive game to aid the winners. Kim Janchick tossed in ten points to lead the Gatorettes over Wyoming Sem, while Leah Slattery, Pam Solinski, Cathy Leonard, and Becky Lake-Lehman Knights ran their record to 2-1 and continued as a dark horse in the Wyoming Valley Wrestling League last week. Shortly Hitchcock’s matmen took all but two bouts to easily down Nanticoke 44-7 last Wednesday but were turned back 25-19 by Meyers on Saturday night. The Mohawks took six of the bouts, one of them a superior decision and two major decisions, in defeating the Knights. Lake-Lehman’s heavy- weight Mike Leskowsky got the only pin of the match between the two teams. The Mohawks jumped out to an early 10-0 lead by taking the first three bouts. 98-1b. Sue Durkin led St. Judes with 12 points while Patti Judge netted 16 points to lead Gate of Heaven scorers. Wyoming Sem blasted the locals 48-23 as the Gatorettes lacked any offensive punch.
