PAGE EIGHT The December meeting of the Dallas Junior Woman's Club was held at College © Misericordia’s, Merrick Hall, Mrs. Carol Eyet presiding. The holiday dinner was followed by en- tertainment by the Dallas High School Choristers under the direction of Mrs. F. Sherwood. Co- chairmen for the event were Carol Smith and Judy Nunemacher. Installation of three new members followed the program. New * members are Ann B riniola;, Vicki Weidemoyer, and Dee Dee Hoover. Four board recom- mendations were acted upon. Funds were allocated for part of the tuition for Jim Reinert who will join the “Up With People” cast in 1980. A basic membership fee was paid to LUZARC. Money was donated to the 1980 Olympic games. Community improv- ements “bonds were purchased from Dallas Area Fall Fair Committee for the purpose of acquiring twenty five acres of land to be used for the Fall Fair and other recreational facilities. The Home Life com- mittee collected for the Diabetes Foundations. Any outstanding reports; news clippings, pictures, etc. should be turned in to Marsha Landis, reports chairman before the January meeting. The Arts department announced ~~ upcoming i contests of interest to Junior High School and Senior High School students as well as club members. A sewing contest and Fashion Show will be held February 24, 1980, at 2 p.m. at the Dallas Junior High School. Penny Poorman, chairman annouriced plans for the event and hopes that any student who has made any it for the show. Club members will also display the model hand sewn items and fashions. Jo Carol Buckley, chairman of the Crafts and Creative Stitchery contest, announced the judging will take place in February. Rules are available from the chairman for club Osage Lodge No. 712, International Order of Odd Fellows, and Lady Toby Rebekah Lodge No. 514 had their annual Christmas party at the Castle Inn on Wednesday, Dec. 12. There was dinner music by The Strollers and Christmas Carol singing. Brief remarks were made by Thomas V. Rogers District Deputy; Buelah Sutton, Rebekah District Deputy; Dorothy Major Baker, Rebekah Novel Grand and the Rev. Robert W. Harris, Noble Grand. The plans for sharing with others for Christmas were discussed. Also orders were taken for the Rose Bowl parade programs. Welfare committee chairman, Evelyn Kenealy, announced that eleven families will receive Christmas food baskets this year. Meals on Wheels recipients in the Back Mountain will be given fruit baskets along with their regular delivery by the Dallas Junior Woman’s Club members. Gail Ales is chairman of the project. The Education Department ' chairman, Kathy Oravitz, presented possible projects to benefit the Deaf and Hearing Impaired. Club members chose to make vests for holding hearing aids. The Childrens Chrismtas store was a successful project. Many children were served at the store stated Carol Smith chairman and Jan Riley co-chairman. Bright of America sales showed a profit. Carol Kristen has catalogs available. Maryann Stors, chairman of the spring project announced the speaker will be Dr. Lendon Smith, famed Pediatrician and Nutritionist. .
