(Photo by Mark Moran) Holiday decorating contest announced Dallas store shows new Residents of the Back Mountain area are urged to enter the Third Annual “Great Back Mountain Holiday Decorating Contest” this year and proclaim the Yuletide season. James Kozemchak, Sr., who has entered and judged many contests in past years, urged homeowners to join in the holiday spirit and enter their decorated homes in the con- test. Last year Kozemchak served as honorary chairman for the contest. This year’s chairman is Dallas Mayor, James Davies III. Joining the Dallas Post as sponsors of the 1979 contest are College = Misericordia, Com- monwealth Telephone Co., Dallas Auto Parts, Dallas Exxon, Dallas Water Co., Daring’s Market, Franklin First Federal Savings and Loan, Offset Paperback Inc., and Parker Fuel Company. Residents are advised to be creative, perhaps using some of their favorite Christmas cards for ideas. Often the most simple decorations make the most beautiful displays. White sheets, plastic or trash bags can be used to make snowballs. They also can be stuffed and shaped for heads, arms, or legs. Cardboard tubes covered with gold or silver foil can be used for organ pipes or chimes. Aluminum foil tins can be used to cut out stars and attach the stars to cardboard. Lots of greens and boxes wrapped with Christmas paper add to the beauty of a display. A spotlight or colored bulbs can be placed to highlight a display. A committee will coordinate details, select judges and arrange to have photos taken of the winning entries. Back Mountain schools, churches and business will be-included in a special category. Selections of the judges will be final. Homes may be entered in either of two divisions, lighted or unlighted. The winner in each division will be awarded a savings bond. Both divisions are eligible for the grand prize. The late Howard Risley, former editor and publisher of the Dallas Post, initiated the first contest more than 30 years ago. Residents of the Back Mountain were enthusiastic about the contest and early in December, many homeowners became involved in creative, original and beautiful displays, both lighted and unlighted. In later years the contest was dropped due to the lack of sponsors. Three years ago the Dallas Post with Kozemchak as chairman re- introduced the contest and is continuing it this year due to its popularity for 1977 and 1978. In another section of the paper, readers will find the rules for the contest as well as an entry blank. Entries may be submitted by the owner of the display or by a neigh- bor or friend. Deadline for entries is Dec. 15. ) The contest area includes the boroughs of Harveys Lake and Dallas and the townships of Dallas, Franklin, Kingston, Lake, Jackson and Lehman. $ i free want ad policy ..........p date Fall Fair bond sales lagging signature ' Public Notices.............. oP. address Alan Landis, chairman of the Fall Fair Association fund drive, reported that the sale of debenture bonds for the purpose of purchasing an additional 25 acres of land ad- joining the property on which the medical center is located, is progressing slowly.
