Speaker for the evening will be John Miliauskas, director of the Lake- Lehman Band. Miliauskas, will speak on the importance and the many achievements of the band. Miliauskas also will show-a film of the band competition at ‘‘Six Flags over Georgia Music Festival’ in Spring of 1979. The band won 3 Superior ratings in Concert, Field, Show and Pass-in-Review. They also won the Band Overall Grand National Champs. The band has 150 trophies to their credit with 19 earned just last year. So far this year they captured 8. Miliauskas is a graduate of Lehman High School and = former member of its band. He has been the director of the award-winning Lake- Lehman High School Band for the past 23 years. He is an alumnus of Mansfield State College and a life member of Phi Mu Alpha National Honor Fraternity. In 1959 he received the National Recognition Award from the Dallas Kiwanis and Rotary Clubs and in 1970 was named “Man of the Year’ by the American Legion Post 967, Harveys Lake. Again in 1973, the Kiwanis and Rotary Clubs honored the band and its director in recognition of musical accomplishments. In (1972, national recognition was given him in the publication ‘Ruffles and Flourishes’. He was guest conductor for the Country Music Festival in 1976 and also hosted PMEA-Northeast District Band. He was named ‘“Out- standing Director’ at the Sherbourne, NY, Pageant of Bands in 1971 and again Quality BUSINES in 1977.
