Public Defender Alan Schreiber, counsel for Solomon Webb charged with the killing of the late John Krasner, argued to the end of Webb’s re-trial that Krasner’s murder could have been a result of an alleged pornography business “war” between Krasner of Harveys Lake and another Lake adult book store operator, Alan Morrow. At the time of his murder on Feb. 5 in a parking lot of a Fort Lauder- dale motel, Krasner was appealing his conviction on charges of at- tempting to have Morrow killed. Schreiber argued that Krasner’s murder could have been the work of an unknown professional hit man, and not by Webb, a former auto mechanic. The 29-year old Webb: was charged with the killing of Krasner after he reportedly confessed to the shooting of Krasner to the Fort Lauderdale police. Police took the shooting while he was walking along the street near his home. Earlier Webb's estranged wife, Debra Ann, told police that Webb came to her home about midnight the date of the shooting and told her that he had accidently shot a man. She also provided police with a lead on her husband. But when Webb was brought to trial during the week of July 28 in Fort Lauderdale, the prosecution’s appear. The jury could not come to a decision at that time, voting 10-2 for acquittal, and Webb was returned to Broward County prison where he remained until his trial last week. The Fort Lauderdale jury last week indicated that they believed prosecutor Rick Garfield’s charges that Webb shot and killed Krasner during a robbery attempt at the motel where Krasner was vacation- After finding Webb guilty Friday, Oct. 5, in the shooting death of Krasner, the jury took only 45 minutes on Monday to return with an advisory recommendation of life imprisonment for Webb. Circuit Judge Eugene Garrett set Nov. 9 as the date for sentencing Webb. If Garrett follows the jury’s recommendation, Webb will serve a minimum of 25 years without any possibility of parole. / Upon hearing the jury's recommendation, Webb remained calm but his wife, Debra, wept quietly as Webb was led from the courtroom, When asked about the statement she allegedly made to the Fort Lauderdale police at the time of the shooting--that Webb told her he had Just shot a man--Mrs. Webb said, “I don’t remember anything.
