They were married on Aug. 25, 1937, at Carverton United Methodist Church by Rev. Charles Gilbert, pastor at the time. Mrs. Thompson is the former Miss Bertha Boone, daughter of Mrs. Grace Boone of Hunlocks Creek, and the late Albert Mr. and Mrs. Elwood Swingle, 18 North Main Street, Shavertown, will observe = their = 32nd wedding anniversary tomorrow. They were married on Aug. 24, 1947, in Shavertown United Methodist Church by the late Rev. Howard R. Harrison, pastor at the time. Mrs. Swingle is the former Miss Mary Lou Boyes, daughter of Mrs. Anna Boyes of Vernon and the late William Boyes. Swingle is the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Elwood Swingle of Dallas. A graduate of Kingston Township High School and East Stroudsburg State College, he retired in 1975 after 38 years as a teacher in Kingston Township, West Pittston and Wyoming Area Schools. Mr. and Mrs. Swingle are parents of five children: John, who resides in Dallas; Mrs. Robert (Catherine) Berkey of Shavertown; Mrs. Richard (Michelle) Hogans of Wilkes-Barre, and Thomas and Kenneth at home. Mr. and Mrs. Swingle also have a grand- daughter, Kim Hogans of Wilkes-Barre. : Boone. Thompson is the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Albert Thompson of Wilkes-Barre, and retired in May from a position as saw operator at the Foster Wheeler Company plant in Mountaintop. For the past 10 years, he has operated a bait and fishing supplies shop at the family home on West Eighth Street in Car- verton. Mr. and Mrs. Thompson have a daughter, Mrs. James (Janice) Wertman of Shavertown. They also have three grandchil- dren: James, 15; Janine, 13, and John, 11, Wertman of Shavertown. Given in marriage by her father, the bride selected a floor-length gown and train of white lace with fitted bodice featuring a cameo neckline and sheer sleeves. Her chapel- length veil was bordered with matching lace and pearl trim. She carried a bouquet of white roses en- circled by white daisies. Manju Nayer was maid of honor. Jackie Turn- quist and Susan Gove, sisters of the groom, were bridesmaids. The at- tendants wore tiered Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Getz of Orange will ob- serve their 39th wedding anniversary on Sunday. They were married on Aug. 26, 1940, at West Pittston by the late Rev. Isaac Bevan. They will mark the occasion with a dinner Saturday evening. Mrs. Getz is the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Harry Hinderle of Hughestown. Mr. Getz is the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Getz of West Pittston. He has been associated with Pennsylvania Power and Light Company about 38 years and is making plans to retire in December. Mr. and Mrs. Getz are parents of a daughter, Miss Sue Getz, employed at the Rex Shoe Company plant in Exeter. No man is good enough to govern another man without that other’s consent. Out of town guests at the wedding were Mrs. Robert J. Culp, Hunt- sville; and Mr. and Mrs. Anthony Maura of Cape Coral, Fla., uncle and aunt of the groom. They were married on August 23, 1969, in First United Methodist Church in Kingston, by Rev. David Glahn of Boston, Mass., a cousin of Mr. Prynn. Mrs. Prynn is the former Miss Bonnie Ronall, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Ronall of Kingston. A graduate of Kingston High School, she also studied modeling at Marilyn Gauntlett Modeling School in Wilkes-Barre. Prynn is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Prynn of Carverton Road, Trucksville. He is a graduate of Dallas Area High School and IM Institute at Reading, Pa., and is a technician at Procter and Gamble’s plant in Mehoopany. Mr. and Mrs. Prynn are parents of four children: Andrew, Margie, Tara and Dale, Jr. Estella Roberts observes 90th A family reunion on Sunday, Aug. 12, was the occasion of a surprise birthday party for Mrs. Estella Roberts in honor of her anticipated 90th birthday, which will occur on Dec. 6 of this year. Mrs. Roberts lives at 30 Lake St., Dallas. She is the former Estella Elston and has been a lifelong resident of the Back- Mountain area.
