Program themes will be Love,’ ‘‘Barriers To Love,” and ‘‘Creative Love.” The Rev. Richard Foster, Jr., pastor of Phawnhurst Presbyterian Church in Philadelphia, will serve as resource leader. The Rev. Douglas Akers, pastor of Dallas United Methodist Church, is in charge of registrations, which should be completed by Sept. 24. The retreat is organized by the Back Mountain Ministerium, representing the churches of the Back Mountain area. Total cost for the week end is $15. On Sunday, Aug. 26, the Rev. Dr. Charles J. Butler will be the guest minister at the 11:15 a.m. and 7 p.m. worship services of the American Presbyterian Church. Dr. Butler has pastored several churches in Pennsylvania, New Haines to preach at Lehman George Haines, lay leader of the Maple Grove-Loyalville Charge, will be the guest preacher on the Lehman Charge on Sunday, Aug. 26. Rev. Robert W. Harris will return from vacation on Aug. 30. Jersey and Maryland. He graduated from Bob Jones University in 1963. He received his Master of Divinity and Master of Sacred Theology Degree from Faith Theological Seminary and later taught systematic theology and church history at the seminary. He received his masters degree in religion and doctor of Philosophy degree (Ph.D) from Temple University with specialization in Refor- mation church history. The services will begin at 7:30 p.m. every night at the Munday Street flood recovery location next to Wyoming Valley Mall. Evangelist Charles Hyder and music evangelist L.C. Campbell, both of Chattanooga, Tenn., along with the Wyoming Valley churches combined choir will be heard nightly during the meetings. The eight-day event will begin with a welcome to the team Sunday night. Monday night has been designated ‘‘God and Country Evening” with special guest, Mayor William C. Stouffer of Altoona. Mayor Stouffer, in addition of having an unusual testimony to share with those in at- tendance, is the only elected public official to also serve as chairman of Christian Businessmen’s Committee. Mayors and city officials of surrounding communities have been invited to at- tend and will be recognized. A military color guard will be provided for the evening. Tuesday will be special guest night with evangelist Doug Stroud from New Orleans speaking during the guest time. Evangelist Stroud, a wealthy businessman before accepting Christ into his life, sold his business holdings and became a full-time ‘evangelist. Wednesday will be celebrated as Sunday school night and all Sunday school teachers will be recognized. The teacher with the largest number of class members present also will be recognized. Thursday is designated guest night with the special guest yet to be confirmed. Friday will be youth night. Many special activities are planned in addition to having an inmate from a local correctional institution present to share his testimony of a new life in Christ. Saturday has been designated family night. The Maderia family, a local singing group, will provide a musical setting for the evening. Sunday will find the old- fashioned gospel tent meetings having an old fashioned hymn sing. The hymn sing will begin at 6:30 p.m. to provide extra time to sing all of the old favorite hymns. At the conclusion of the meetings the motion picture “Joni” will be shown in the area. Watch for a schedule of when this dynamic motion picture will be shown in your neighborhood. The film is based on the best-selling book, ‘‘Joni’’. Joni Eareckson a quadriplegic, plays herself in the World-Wide Pictures production released by Billy Graham.
