THE DALLAS POST, TH Moran) In the game between the Back Mountain National All Stars and East Scranton played Monday night at Scran- ton, the Nationals won the close contest by a 4-2 score. East Scranton’s pit- cher, Tim Lutz appeared to have everything under control for his team as he limited the powerful hitters of the Back Mountain National All Stars to one hit and no runs for the first four innings of the game. The East Scranton boys went on the board in the first inning when Joe Keenan scored on Rich McCrarey’s double with two out. The District 17 team added another run in the third when Dana walk, stole second and went to third when Ellis Wilner grounded out to first. Lutz walked and Howard scored on a long sacrifice fly. Going into the fifth inning with the- East Scranton All-Stars leading 2-0, Mark Steinkirshner led off by reaching first on an error and stole second before Bill Boyle went to first on an error. Steinkirshner moved to third on the play. : Jim Boughton walked to load the bases and pitcher Chris Wargo went to first on an error while Steinkirshner crossed the plate with Back Moun- tain’s first run. Catcher Chris Michael drove a double to right centerfield scoring Boyle and Boughton. The fielder’s throw to the plate went high over the pitcher’s head and Wargo came in with a. run to give the Nationals a 4-2 lead which they held. In July 25 game with Dupont at the Dallas field, the Back Mountain Nationals defeated the’ team 21-0 to win the District 16 title. Dr. Herbert Oliver, District 16 administrator, presented the District 16 championship banner to (Continued on P. 20) Back Mountain American All-Stars girls softball team left for Williamsport Wednesday to complete in the state championship after defeating Guilford All- Stars, Saturday af- ternoon, at Tunkhannock. The 12-5 win over the District 14 team gave the Back Mountain girls the sectional title after they took the District 16 by defeating Mountaintop 5- 4, West Pittston 5-2, and the Back Mountain National All-Stars 19-7. The Americans defeated Canton 12-2, District 17 champions before defeating Guilford of District 14 for the Regional 3 championship. North Berwick will meet Twin Cities in the playoffs while the Hawks and Mif- flinville meet. Winners of these games will play each other to determine the season championship. Regular season honors in the Bible Fellowship Softball League will be riding on the outcome of the game Tuesday evening between Dallas Baptist and Sweet Valley Church-one of three contests scheduled in the final frame of regular season games in the league. Sweet Valleye and Dallas Baptist at the end of last week were tied for top place in the loop with records of seven wins and a loss. Tuesday evening, Sweet Valley played at Noxen and Dallas Baptist journeyed to Roaring Brook.
