James Nicholas, prin- cipal of Lake-Lehman High School, has announced the scholastic top ten of the 1979 graduating class. Rosemary Zbick, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Zbick, RD 35, Shavertown, has earned the honor of valedictorian of the 1979 graduating class of Lake-Lehman. Rosemary has been a member of the National Honor Society for 5 years, and Who's Who Among American High School students. Her honors also include the Lake Silkworth Lions Club Honor Award, DAR Good Citizenship Award, Bausch and Lomb Science and Mathematics Award, a Jemina S. Boyd Scholarship given to out- standing freshmen students in the field of education, recipient of N.E.D.T. certificate and Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Certificate, and the Har- vey’s Lake Women’s Club Award. She is editor of The Roundtable while she also participated in the College Bowl, model United Nations, stage band, musi- cal pit orchestra, and marching band for six years in which she was a member of district band for three years and regional band for two years. She has served as class treasurer for three years. Rosemary will attend Indiana University of Pennsylvania where she will major in Secondary Education with a concen- tration in mathematics. She hopes to complete the program. Wendy Smith is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Smith, RD 1, Hunlock Creek. Wendy has received the honor of class salutatorian. She has been a member of the National Honor Society for five years and has ac- companied the Lake- Lehman Chorus and musical for four years. Wendy plans to pursue & career in the field of banking or civil service. John Amos, son of Mr. and Mrs. John D. Amos, RD 7, Shavertown, has been a member of the National Honor Society for five years, recipient of the N.E.D.T. Certificate, the Penn State Engineering Award, and the Penn State Science Symposium. He served as treasurer and vice president of the student council during his sophomore and junior years and participated in the high school musical in 10th grade. John is also a member of the Wyoming Valley Red Cross in which he received a Leadership Development Center Award and he is a CPR Aid. John plans to attend college majoring in bio- chemistry. Bonnie James, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles C. James, RD 4, Dallas, has been a member of the National Honor Society for five years, Who's Who Among American High School Students, and Who's Who Among American music students. She was also the Dallas Post’s student of the week, Lake Silkworth Lion’s Club’s student of the quarter and she participated in the WNEP-TV-Scholarship Bowl. She has been an active member of the band for six years acting as section leader for two years and a district band participant for three years, Regional band for two years, and All-State band for one year. Bonnie is a stage band member for the musical and a percussion ensemble member. As a sports participant, she has been an active member of the volleyball team for four years, a boys basketball statistician one year, and a baseball manager for one year. Bonnie is Key Club president and a member of the varsity club, Y-teens, and senior class play cast. Her future plans include attending the main campus of Penn State University and majoring in Animal- Bioscience. Cathy White, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John White, Box 357, Dallas has been a member of the National Honor Society for five years. She has par- ticipated in © varsity volleyball and cheerleading for two years, served as manager of the boy’s baseball team, medal for the two-mile relay in the ’78 District Track Meet, and served as vice-president of the varsity club. She is a member of the student council and was honored by the Harvey's Lake Women’s Club for being one of the top eight senior girls. During her junior year, Cathy was the recipient of a Gold Key Award from Wilkes College drawing and one of the lead parts in the senior play. She plans to major in art therapy at Kutztown State Larry Williams, son of Mr. and Mrs. Dean Williams, RD 1, Hunlock Creek, has been a member of the National Honor Society for five years, selected to Who's Who Among American High School Students and Band members, received NEDT and PHEAA certificates, attended the Rotary Leadership Camp, and is the recipient of the National Merit Special Scholarship. He was a member of the Bible Club, basketball team, model U.N., stage band, and the Scholarship Bowl team. He participated in the musical pit band for three years and the marching band for six years during which he made district and regional band. He plans to attend Messiah College where he will pursue the ministry. Doug Nichols, son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Nichols of RD 2, Dallas, has been a member of the National Honor Society for five years and in eighth grade received the good Citizen- ship Award. He partici- pated in the musical pit band for two years and has been a band member for six years serving in district band for two years. He is also treasurer of the Key Club. Doug is presently employed by Weis Markets, Dallas and plans to enter the Johnson School of Technology. She is a four-year field, has been selected to district band three times, regional band twice, and district orchestra once. Pam is also a member of the stage band and par- ticipated in the musical pit band six years. She has also been a member of the Lake-Lehman Band for six years, served as section leader for three years, and was secretary of the band for one year. She was recipient of the American Legion Citizenship Award as an eighth grader. Pam was a member of the Student Council for four years and served as chairman of the semi- formal in 1977. She plans to attend Penn State, Lehman Campus to major in biomedical technology.
