OAK HILL Eat your heart out by Bridgette Correale Broadway eat your heart out! We have Lake-Lehman senior class who lights up everyone's heart with their VinandTlove the theatre and when we lived in Brooklyn it was no hassle to drive into New York City to see a play, whether it be the weekend or during the week. Well, Saturday evening we attended the Lehman Senior Class presentation of ‘Funny Girl’ and let me tell you we were thrilled with the orchestra, the settings, the costume, the choreography, the over-all performance and splendid acting. We couldn’t believe we were sitting in a school auditorium, five minutes from our home. Every- thing was done with such perfection, we're still talking about it. ; About 15 years ago, ‘Funny Girl’ opened on Broadway starring a school friend of mine, Barbra Streisand and Vin and I were invited to the opening night. There we were sitting in the very first row of the orchestra section. We truly enjoyed the show and the excitement, but it did not compare to the pleasure we experienced this past Saturday. Our congratulations! Belated birthday greetings to Linda Tuzinski and Paul Onzik both celebrated their 12 birthday, May 2; Barney Dobinnick, May 5 and Jeff Dobinnick, May 7; Tom Lynch, May 6; Colleen Murray, May 7 and one of our favorite people Millie Espen, May 8. The Back Mountain Policemen’s Association will sponsor “A Crime Prevention Workshop” Wednesday, May 9 at the Dallas Senior High School beginning at 7:30. Items to be discussed are Crime Prevention, insurance information for the burglary victim, burglar alarm and locksmith tips. The public is invited to attend. Best wishes to Bob Cartier for being selected ‘Citizen of the Year’ by local service clubs. Bob truly deserves this award because he is always giving of himself. Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Blazes who recently honored a wedding anniversary and to their son, David who celebrated his 10th birthday, May 4. Sincere sympathy is extended to the Hawk family upon the passing of Lorraine’s mother-in-law, Susan Hawk. The best to Tony Hoyson and Barbara Rempliewicz who were married Saturday afternoon at Gate of Heaven Church. The past weekend, several friends and neighbors en: joyed a bus trip to New York City where some attended Broadway plays, shopped or visited interesting sights. Ray and Julie Iwanowski and Jack and Marianne Cleary were four of the group that traveled. Birthday ‘Hellos’ to Mary Ruth Farrell whose day is’ May 9, Pat Kalinowski, May 10, and Rudy Schleich, May 11 and Lynn Evans, May 14. Sunday, May 13 is Mother’s Day and I would like to shower all us Moms with sunshine and happiness because we deserve it. After all who do you know cooks breakfast when she hates the meal? Who do you know irons an outfit a second time because after the first time it was never placed in the closet? Who wants peace when she’s doing this column? Instead I get, “Mom I need a shirt for tomorrow!” “Mom I want the socks with the green stripes for tomorrow.” “Mom I need white pants for work.” Patiently I say “0.K.” let me do this column without anymore interruptions’. In walks Vin and before he asks, I say “Now what do you want?” He says, “A kiss”. So much for sunshine and happiness. : Frank AND Back Mz. students in ballet The Ballet Society of Wyoming Valley will present the children’s ballet, ‘The Little Mer- maid’, on May 12, at 7:30 p.m., and on Sunday, May 13, at2 p.m., at the Dorothy Dickson Darte Center for the Performing Arts, Wilkes College, Wilkes- Barre.
