How can | be most honest, dependable -- PRAYER PLUS ACTION Just being the strongest power on earth militarily will not save us from commiting national suicide which I believe we are doing by our total depravity and immorality. Even as Amos, Isaiah, Jeremiah and other prophets reminded Israel of her sins, let me remindyouof America’s: .1. We have renounced our Creator God and found other gods - ourselves - government security - and education. There is little love of God and loyalty in our land. 2. We have become a nation of idolators. We are the hallmarks of faithfulness and fidelity from our land. 3. We have taken the name of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ in vain and today it is used mostly as a curse word. There is no reverence or fear of God and His Word. (His Laws.) American legislators are playing god and passing laws that Laws. 4. We are desecrating God’s day of rest and worship and have made it the same as any other .day in our pursuit of eat, drink, and be merry for tomorrow you die. Nothing and I mean nothing, is Holy or Sacred anymore. 5. America is a land of confusion, chaos and fear. There is no respect for law - order - private property - the government or the courts. Honor has fallen by the wayside in America. Children don’t honor their father and mother or anyone else. The fathers and mothers don’t honor their responsibility to take care of (support and educate) their families. There is no respect or fear of God and every one does what is right in his own sight. We have become a nation of humanists and satanists. 6. There is no respect of life in our land. Abortion and murder are running rampant throughout America. Hatred is nourished by our educational system and our clamor for our rights. Justice and respect for life is dying all around us. 7. Immorality, adultery, whoredoms, divorce abound on every hand. Purity - respect of and personal responsibility for family are the ex- ception rather than the rule. 8. Honesty is a searce item in our land today. We have become a nation of thieves, what we don’t steal directly we have the government steal for us legally. The result of this thieving is loss of health, chaos, confusion, inflation and the downfall of our monetary system, and except for a change in our attitude and divine intervention will bring on another dark age. 9. Another casualty in our land is truth. We are a bunch of liars. There is no truth, we say rejected God and His Laws as truth, each man finds his own truth in his own reasoning. The result — chaos and confusion. Only by acknowledging God as God and His Law word as truth can we have order in this universe. 10. There is no contentment in our land. We covet what our neighbor has. We say we have an inherent right to all the goodies that our neighbor has whether we work and earn them or not. God’s Word says ‘By the sweat of your brow (work) you shall eat bread.” We say no, — that’s old fashioned. By our government benefits we shall eat bread and cake and -meat. Social security, unemployment checks, food stamps, etc., etc. The result — a nation of covetous, lying, cheating, jealous people. HIM AS LORD AND SAVIOUR. In a wicked world with which God had become’ very angry, He had a magnificent plan to save the huamn race from annihilation. He had no Presidential commission appointed, no com- puter run teaching program, no Head start system, but He gave a man three sons. We talk of Noah spending 100 years building an Ark, but he also spent 100 years building a family. Three sons with which to repopulate the earth. This was God’s method of saving the world from oblivion. one Mother raising children to fear God and to walk in his commandments. Praying always that God would be pleased to show mercy unto them and open their hearts to the Gospel. *‘Children are the vineyard of the Parent’s planting, and honor done to the parents is some of the fruit of the vineyard.” (Watson) Our greatest calling is to be a parent. Rick never did accept it or understand it. Perhaps someday behavioral scientists will discover what makes one person trip over his own feet at a moment when he’s trying to impresss someone with his savior faire while virtually everybody else can pull off the trick. In the meantime, individuals like Rick can only be labeled and sympathized with--when they’re not causing problems for you. It happened one evening when he had just noticed two attractive young women across the smoky bar. He decided to head for the men’s room, which would bring him directly past them. He failed to take into consideration the single step up to be taken. The rest was inexorable. No power on earth could have stopped him from flying headfirst, shouting in “terror as the floor loomed up. The simplest move, under some sort of pressure, led to disaster. It became predictable. Hitching a ride home in the early hours of the morning, he got in a car already occupied by six men. The next day, with wallet gone and thumb broken and with bruises all over his face, he realized he had made a misjudgement. But nothing halted Rick in the long run. If there was a mistake to be made, he’d make it. If there was a bad situation somewhere, it cried out until he jumped into ‘it. All his attempts to gain status failed. Once in a bus depot a friend punched him out for a remark Rick thought was clever. No one, Rick included, could e ever be made to repeat the remark. : Another time he challenged a wimpy character to a foot race only to discover that the wimp was accustomed to running three miles a day in Texas summer temperatures of 115 and more. Dashing out of a taxi to catch a Greyhound, his pants split in two. If he got into a car to drive someplace, he got a ticket. If he opened a can of soda, it soaked the ceiling and (Continued from page 1) installation of officers Dodson, 675-2728, by Feb. there will be dancing from 19. 9 ’til 1, with music by ‘The New Estates.’ Reservations can be made by calling Conrad Higgins, 675-2227 or Jack The normal American woman words per minute as against 150 for the average male. dripped on him. People who knew him ran when they saw him fishing in his pocket for machine change. Maybe it was just some basic non-relationship to order of any kind that produced one disaster after another. He'd put a towel into a drawer but leave one corner hanging out--always--and not seem to realize he’d done it. Maybe in every decision he made he left just enough hanging out that he flopped at it. If he’d swing a racket at a ball, he’d hit himself in the eyebrow and wipe out the scar tissue from all the other Ice! Ice! Rick was a circus in winter. Sliding, screaming, arms and legs flying, he was a threat to himself whenever he stepped outdoors. Or perhaps there was some self-destructive motive at work deep within his brain. When he asked for a date he, pleaded, as if to say, ‘Of course you really don’t want me, but I'll ask anyway.” Then he’d ignore every polite rejection signal ever developed by women and boast that he had a new girlfriend, which gave him an excuse to sit around evening after evening analyzing what “She’s out right now’’ really meant. Rick, Rick--what made you like that? Was it genes? Life experiences? His most characteristic expression was a gritting of the teeth, shutting of the eyes, and clenching of the fists. It meant, ‘“‘Skunked again.” He used it a lot. What are you doing today? In the office where you undoubtedly work, how do you explain falling over in the middle of the floor for no apparent cause beyond the fact that you've just noticed the new secretary? In church, what happens when they hand you Com- munion? Someday maybe they’ll be able to help Rick. Or maybe prevent him from happening at all. In the meantime the Ricks of the world are convenient scapegoats for all those fearing the klutz within them- selves. Could be that’s why he had so many enemies. Then there was the time he tried to go skiing. The Intermediate building which was purchased from the federal government for $150,000 houses 540 students.
