Frank Pasquini, general campaign chairman of the 1979 Heart Fund Cam- paign, announced that Mrs. R. Spencer Martin, Jr., Trucksville is the 1979 Heart Fund ‘Campaign Special Gifts Chairman for Wilkes-Barre and surrounding areas. Mrs. Martin attended the College of William and Mary in Virginia, and received a BS in chemistry from Temple University. She is presently a member of the board of the Northeastern Pa. Chapter of the Heart Association and secretary to the board of Wyoming Valley’s Meals on Wheels. She has also served as past president of the Dallas Women of Rotary. Mr.. & Mrs. Martin reside at 185 Carverton Road, Trucksville, Mr. Martin is a consulting engineer for Martin and Fladd, Wilkes-Barre. Their chidren are: Eric, married to the former Beth Ann Carvey; Kimberly, married to Charles W. Koehl; Jeffrey, a sophomore at Westminster Choir College, Princeton, N.J.; Craig, a junior at Wyoming Seminary; and Kurt, a 6th grade student in Dallas. Local birder Ed Johnson will be the principal speaker for the December meeting of the Greater Wyoming Valley Chapter of the National Audubon Society. Johnson will speak on “Birding by Habitat”’ and is also expected to provide ‘a report on the local Christmas Bird Count. The count is conducted nationally by the Audubon Society through its in- dividual chapters and members. Locally, Johnson and other volunteers conduct the count by visiting proper birding areas, such as the Huntsville Dam area, and counting individual species of birds and the number of individual birds in each. The counters rely on sight and sound, working before dawn and after dusk. The local Audubon meeting will be held at College Misericordia on Dec. 18 at 7:30 p.m. Board members will meet at 6:30 p.m. The meetings are held in Kennedy Lounge on campus and are open to persons interested in learning more about the Audubon Society as well as to chapter members. Local art The work of local artists Nicholas Clemente, John Bene, and Henry Long will be presented in an exhibition Dec. 9 through 16 at The Expanding Universe, 505 Market St., Kingston. Works displayed will include transformative images, paintings, drawings, and sculpture. It opens Dec. 9 at 8 p.m.’ . Airman - Havrilla, a telecommunications operations specialist with a unit of the Air Force Communications Service, previously served at Beale AFB, Calif. The airman is a 1976 graduate of Lake-Lehman High School. Nurse (1st Lt.) Mary E. Wildes, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edward M. Wildes, 112 Lehman Ave., Dallas, recently completed an Army Nurse and Medical Specialist Corps officer basic course at the Academy of Health Sciences of the U.S. Army, Fort Sam Houston, Texas. The course provides basic branch training and orientation for newly commissioned officers.
