PAGE EIGHT Band tours scheduled Reservations are now being accepted by Alice Hudak for anyone wishing to attend the band com- petition at both Sunbury and Harrisburg in which the award-winning Lake- Lehman High School Band, under the direction of John Miliauskas, will participate. The Sunbury competition will take place at Shikellany H.S. stadium on Sept. 23 and Harrisburg will be held on Sept. 30. Glass, paper, cardboard and magazines will be collected. Laurel Gillis on Laurel Gillis of 17 Shaver Avenue, Shavertown, a May 1978 graduate, has been named to the dean’s list at Eisenhower College for the Spring Term. The Eisenhower dean’s dean’s list list carries the names of those students attaining academic averages of 3.25 or better in a grading system which awards four points for each “a”, three points for each ‘B,” etc. 76ers camp at Stony Mountain The Penna. 76’ers Chapter 29, Good Sam Club held their August campout over the past weekend at Stoney Mountain Cam- pground in Tunkhannock. Attending were 15 club families and a guest, the Bill McHenry family, from Trucksville. Games were played on Saturday for the young and old. The boys were ac- companied by Scout Master Robert Schooley and his assistant Bruce Davies. This was Davies 50th year at Camp Acahela where he first camped as a boy scout himself. Parents night at camp is always a treat with a ceremony by the Order of the Arrow bringing the evening to a close. Those who made the trip up to camp were Mr. and Mrs. S. The troop also took top award for the All American Unit and earned a second in the Camp Commissioner Competition for the week. The weekly meeting of the Back Mountain Kiwanis Club was held Saturday Aug. 12 at the Mark IT Resturant, Dallas. Vice President Joe Mec- Donald presided. Guests attending Saturday’s meeting were George McChutchon, Pete George, Reese Pelton, Ray Hillman, and Brad Stegmaier, all of the Dallas Kiwanis Club; also Francis Curry of the LCCC Kiwanis Club and Bill Williams of the Wilkes-Barre Kiwanis Club. : Guest apeaker at the meeting was Bob Men- nequzzo, a representative of the Williams, Brown, and ‘Earle, Inc.
