The plan- ning committee recently met at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Martin Moore, High Point Acres, to for- mulate plans for this outstanding highlight of the summer season.. A Dutch treat cocktail hour will begin at 7 p.m., dinner served at 8 p.m. and dancing from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. Music for dancing will be provided by The Diplomats. On Saturday, June 10, at 7:30, Merrick Hall at College Misericordia will become the setting for a “Roman Holiday’. A buffet featuring Italian foods will be followed by dancing at 9 to ‘music by = “The Socialites’. Members of the decoration committee, ~ Mrs. Tobi Grossman and her daughter Ellen, have been busy executing pic- turesque murals of Italy. Other members of the committee, Mrs. Paul Mahler, Mrs. Paul Mulcey, and Miss Teri Ranck, have also been preparing various scenes which will enhance the setting for the affair. Mrs. Robert Faley, Ephrater, was Maid of Honor and Patrick Morgan, Bethleham was best man. Mrs. George, the former Mary MecGavin, is the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Y. McGavin Sr., Wilkes-Barre. George is the son of Mi. and Mrs. Peter G. George Sr. Wilkes-Barre. George is a superin- tendent for Grosek & Sons Construction Co. They have four sons, Peter, New York City; Patrick an electrician for Standard Elec. Co., Paul, in the Air Force, stationed at Loring A.F.B. Maine; and Philip, a student at Westmoreland Elementary School Mr. and Mrs. George will be honored at a family dinner on June 10 at the Castle Inn, Dallas. They are planning a trip to ‘Ireland later in the summer. Miss Virginia M. Snyder, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Howard Snyder, 286 W. 6th St., West Wyoming, became the bride of Richard J. Weir, son of Mr. and Mrs. Walter J. Weir Jr., RD 1, Demunds Road, Dallas on May 20 at the Church of St. Joseph, West Wyoming. Msgr. Grazlus, pastor, performed the double-ring ceremony. Rev. Stephen McGough, assistant pastor concelebrated the Nuptial Mass and delivered the homily. Miss Tina Charney was organist and The Shalom Folk Group sang. Given in marriage by her father, the bride chose Jeanne Zieberski as maid of honor and Noreen Morgan, cousin of the bride, as junior bridesmaid. Walter J. Weir III, brother of the bridegroom, was best man. Howard Snyder Jr., brother of the bride, was junior usher. An evening reception was held at Gus Genetti’s. Mrs. Weir graduated from Wyoming Area High School and is employed as a teller at the Franklin Federal Savings and Loan Association, Gateway Shopping Center Branch. Mr. Weir graduated from West Side Vo-Tech and is employed as a nuclear technician by Weston Componnents of Archbald. Following a wedding trip to Florida, the couple is residing in Wyoming. The barn will be open Wednesday, June 7, 14, 21 and 28 from 10 a.m. to" 1 pm. It will be open Saturday, June 17 and 24 from 9 a.m. to noon. Beginning June 19, it will be open Monday through Friday from 7 p.m. to 9 pm. The barn will be closed July 1, 2, 3 and 4. No overstuffed furniture or large electrical ap- pliances can be accepted. announces The committee for the 1978 Back Mountain Memorial Library Auction has announced the winners of the children’s poster contest. First prize winner is Patty Allen of R. D. 3 Wyoming. Patty, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Allen is a sixth grade student in the Dallas Intermediate school. Awarded second prize was Richard Gdovin, Shavertown, son of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Gdovin. Richard is also a sixth grade student in the Dallas Intermediate school. Winner of third prize was Lisa Boback, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Boback, College Manor, Dallas. Lisa is a fourth Borough School. June 14th is the 16th annual * Nesbitt’ Memorial Hospital Auxiliary’s festival on the grounds of the Medical Arts Building. Opening ceremonies are at 11 a.m. There will be booths featuring home made articles, baked goods, plants, a antiques, food, books, jewlry, and other items. A chicken barbecue dinner will be served in the hospital dining room from 4:30 to 7:00 p.m. Closing will be at 9 p.m. after the drawing for ‘66 Special’ prizes. Dallas fire and am- bulance auxiliary will meet Monday evening, June 12, in the Dallas Borough building. All members are urged to attend. Several projects have been started and Hostesses for the evening will be Karen Spudis and Sandy Sheehan. Resia Carroll, president, will conduct the meeting. Edie Shaffer is in charge of publicity. New officers for the coming year were elected at a recent meeting of the Back Mountain Kiwanis Club at! Mark TI Restaurant, Dallas.
