Wilson also had the pleasure of marching in the International Azalea Festival in Norfolk, when he was a trombonist in the Navy Band in the 60's. Several police cars from the Back mountain area greeted the band on its return at Whitesell Brothers on Route 118 and escorted them with flashing lights back to the high school. The entire weekend was a dazzling experience for a very tired but extremely happy group of people. The first five were field show trophies giving the band the unique satisfaction of being undefeated in that class so far this year.
