RICHARD W. SNOWDON FUNERAL DIRECTOR HAROLD C. SNOWDON HOME FOR FUNERALS, INC. 420 WYOMING AVENUE Simple Simon Tavern, located in East Dallas. And to prove that he meant it, he and his attractive wife, Barbara, had their heads barber, Shavertown, for their grand opening last weekend. After months of remodeling the former Chief’s Bar at Demunds Corners, the couple were able to carry off the stunt they had planned for two years-shave off their hair for the grand opening at such time they were able to purchase a tavern. Last Friday and Saturday, they greeted patrons and friends dressed in identical formal wear complete with green ruffled shirts, formal ties, and ‘‘good, clear heads’. Dave and Barbara Simon are former residents of Long Beach Island, N.J. They are the parents of two children, Annette, age 13, and Jim, 12 now students in the Dallas Schools. The children are raised entirely apart from the business which is strictly off limits to them. The Simons have long dreamed of owning their own bar and restaurant so when ready to purchase a property, they decided to look in this area since they had always like Nor- theastern 'Penn- sylvania.; They con- tacted the United Farm Agency and through them looked at several places, none of them exactly what they wanted. A friend in Kingston showed them the Chief’s Bar. The Simons liked the location, setting and price so purchased the property. After purchasing they did extensive remodeling including new paneling, carpeting, taking out a partition and changing doors and windows. They plan to run a family type bar and restaurant and in the near future will serve hot meals. At the present time, they are serving sandwiches until they purchase and install the necessary equipment. They look forward , to meeting the residents of the Back Mountain and hope to make their business a place for friends and neighbors to enjoy dining out. A former school teacher, Dave also tended bar for several years in South Jersey. He will do the cooking while his wife, Barbara, will serve as public relations person. Cooking is Dave’s hobby He and Barbara have always enjoyed visiting different restaurants and trying their specialties. Barbara has a green thumb and raises African violets and orchids primarily although she does try other plants. BI CHICK PAGE FIVE EN SPECIALS!
