Trisha Tuzinski won the third grade spelling bee championship and received a trophy, a first place ribbon, and a gift certificate. Trisha is the (100 or more size) - daughter of Frank and Cecelia Tuzinski, 42 E. Franklin St., Shavertown. Trisha is a member of Brownie Troop 657 and enjoys reading as a hobby. Trisha’s grandparents are Mr. 'and Mrs. Joseph Tuzinski, Ashley and Mr. William Hufford, Larksville. Scott Francis placed second and received a third place ribbon and a gift certificate. Other students participating in the third grade event were Donna Piatt, Melanie Coscia, Molly Grasso, Allison Fry, Kristen McHenry, Cathy Zikor, Dawn Smith, Maureen Wisnieski, and Adam Tillman. Darci Davis copped the championship. She received a trophy, a first place ribbon and a gift certificate. Darci plays the violin and enjoys acrobatics and recently moved into the area along with her parents from Modesto, Calif. The Davises are formerly from Sweet Valley and graduates of Lake-Lehman High School. Darci’s grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. John Davis, Hunlock Creek and Mrs. Ann Farver, Sweet Valley. Stacie Pierce placed second and Marilyn Ward finished third in the fourth grade competition. Both girls received ribbons and gift certificates for their efforts.
