Penn State won its third straight team title and advanced several wrestlers to the NCAA Tournament at Maryland Cleveland State’s Ron Verga (167) was named the Outstanding Wrestler. He and PSU’s Dave Becker were the class of the field. Clarion’s Tom Diamond is the first freshman ever to win a crown. Had a nice visit with Berwick coach George Curry and Carl Kern. George is still elated with winning the Eastern Conference grid title. He coached both Carl and Jack Davis, Clarion’s assistant mat coach. Carl is delighted to be working with his former scholastic coach. Carl and Jack both played at Lake-Lehman when George got the Knights on the winning side of the W & L column. are in the NCAA hunt. After bowing in five of their first seven Big 10 contests, Knight has his roundballers playing a very meticulous and controlled game. We feel they have the fire-power to move into the regional finals against Duke--and with a sound game could advance to the final four. The Hoosiers are a young group with only one senior starting. FRENCH ONION ‘SOUP 3 med. onions (thinly sliced) 2 T. butter 1 T. flour 4 beef boullion cubes 4 c. water salt & pepper to taste 1, ¢. milk, heat to boil 1, 1b. grated swiss or Parmesan cheese buttered croutons In heavy skillet, cook onions in heated butter until slightly browned. Sprinkle with flour and cook over low flame until golden not dark brown. Add cubes and water. Bring to boil stirring constantly with wooden spoon. Simmer gently for 20 minutes uncovered. Add milk. Pour into oven proof casserole or individual bowls. Place cubes of buttered croutons on top. Sprinkle generously with cheese. Brown quickly under broiler. Serves four to six. MARINATED AN- TIPASTO Clean and slice one pound fresh mushrooms one eighth inch thick. Slice half small head cauliflower. Pare two carrots and cut into two inch strips. Cut two stalks celery and one green pepper in one inch strips. Combine in saucepan with one jar drained pimento and one jar drained pitted olives. Add two chopped green onions. Combine quarter cup fresh lemon quarters cup wine vinegar, two tablespoons sugar, one teaspoon salt, half teaspoon oregano, quarter teaspoon pepper and quarter cup water. Pour over vegetables in saucepan. Bring to boil, stir and simmer (covered) for five minutes. Cool and refrigerate 24 hours. Drain and served with sesame crackers. The committee will in- vestigate its role in public relations and also the possibility of conducting a Human Resource Search, as ways for citizen in- volvement. Much discussion centered around the Human Resource Search, in which people of the community could be utilized as resource per- sons by classroom teachers to further enrich the classroom experience. The committee will investigate the possiblity and then report on the feasibility of this project by the next meeting. The results of the California Achievement Tests were discussed. Chairperson DeCesaris teachers and ad- ministrators for the high performance of the Lake- Lehman students on these tests. Stephanie Rowland, chairperson of the Volunteers in = Action, reported that volunteers are now being utilized in all buildings in the district. The citizens of the Lake- Lehman School District are encouraged to contact the members of the Citizen Advisory Committee about like brought to the at- tention of the committee. The newly elected of- ficers of the committee are Elizabeth DeCesaris, chairperson; Stephanie Rowland, recording secretary; Karen Keefer, corresponding secretary, and Barbara Price, publicity. The next monthly meeting of the CAC will be held Monday, March 27, 7:30 p.m. inn the Lehman- Jackson Elementary Building. All residents are encouraged to attend. Members of East Dallas United Methodist Church will hold a fellowship supper and hymn sing Sunday afternoon, starting at 5 at the church. Tonight will be another ‘work night’ for members of Northmoreland Baptist Church in Centermoreland, who are continuing work on repairs to the church parsonage. Work session gets underway this evening at 8. Mr. and Mrs. John Prebola and family, for- merly of Allentown, have moved into the former Scureman home on Mt. Olivet Road, next to St. Frances Cabrini R.C. Church. The Scureman home was acquired recently by St. Frances Church for future use and expansion. Mr. and Mrs. Sidney Button and children of Orange spent Sunday with Mrs. Button’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Miles Anderson of Tunkhannock. Rev. Daniel Sears will be the guest preacher at morning and evening services Sunday in Nor- thmoreland Baptist Church. Members of the choir of Northmoreland Baptist Church last night began rehearsals for the Eastern morning service to be held Sunday, March 26. James May is director of the choir. Mrs. David Corby, Jr. of Centermoreland was a patient in Geisinger Hospital at Danville at press time. Her condition was reported as good.
