game that will be filled
with laughs, thrills, spills

‘Craziest show on earth.’
It combines the circus,
rodeo and basketball.

Two of this year’s un-
defeated Blue Knights
have signed letters of in-
tent to Georgia Tech
University. They are Tim
Jordan, 62’, 220 pounds
tackle and King Irwin, 6’1”’
210 pound running back.
Student of the Month
Scott Parkhurst was
named Student of the
Month for February by the
local Lions. He was co-
captain of the 1977 football
team and captain of the
tennis team. He is also
president of the “W”’ Club
and has been awarded the
MVP award for tennis two
years in a row. Scott is also
a Dean’s List student. He
plans to major in Business
and Economics in college.
“Bye, Bye, Birdie”
The annual spring
production this year will be
performed on two nights,
Feb. 24th and 25th at 8 p.m.
in the Buckingham Per-
forming Arts Center. The
musical featuring many
song and dance routines is
all about what happens
when idol Conrad Birdie
comes to town.
The two female leads are
played by Julie Goldstone
and Kenley Vispi, Conrad
Birdie is played by Rich
Rogers. Dedication Series
tickets will be honored and
door sales will be
available: adults $3.00,
students $1.50.
Winter Wonderland
It was just too wintery to
get everything together for
the big night. The date for
the - Winter Formal has
been changed, so we’ll
have our ‘Winter Won-

On Wednesday, Feb. 16,
the National Honor Society
held its’ annual Induction
Ceremony. Forty-four
seniors and thirty-one
juniors who have main-
tained a 90 and-or above
average so far in their high
school years were installed
as official members.
This ceremony is noted
as the height of the
academic achievement
within Bishop O’Reilly.
Speeches and the symbolic
yellow rose for each senior
girl concluded the evening.
Under the coaching of
Mr. Keaney, four members
of the debate team have
qualified to compete in the
District 8 Tournament at
Scranton Central High
School. Debbie Suda, Mary
Ann Shemo, Ruth Boyle,
and Danny Mesaros will
represent O'Reilly.

recognition at the Wilkes
College Sardoni Art
Gallery with the presen-
tation of art and
photography awards.
Karen McDonnel received
the Wyoming Valley Art
League award and a golden
key award for her entry in
ink. Two certificates of
merit were given for a
pastel and ink work
painted by Renee Zuba.

senior Brian Kravitz. The
national competition at
Rochester, N.Y., will

The Sordoni Art Gallery is

The sophomores held a
successful bake sale
Tuesday Feb. 14, thanks to
the cooperation of the
members of the class and
class moderator Sr.
Catherine Mary. All profits
collected on fund-raising
projects such as this will be
used to subsidize expenses
for the annual Sophomore
Party scheduled for May 19
at Gus Genetti’s. All
students of O'Reilly are
asked for their support in
any other future ac-
tivities.
It appears as though
Bishop = O'Reilly High
School will be represented
in the state swimming
competition to be held Feb.
24 and 25. Due to the
winning determination and
encouragement from all
the members of the swim
team, the 200 medley relay
team have qualified to
compete in states with a
second place victory in the
district competition.
The girls swimming in
the 200 medley should be
congratulated for their
excellent performance.
The team consists of
senior: Maureen Judge,
junior: Ann Mabher,
sophomore: Mary Sem-
brat, and freshman: Susan
Hargadon.
As the end of the season
draws - near, the Bishop
O'Reilly boy’s basketball
team will prepare to make
the best of their two
remaining games. The
boys fought for a victory on
their home court Tuesday,
Feb. 14 against top-seated
Meyers only to suffer two
injuries and a 80-54 loss
instead. Michael Zan-
cewicz had a game high of
17.
The 9-3 record gained the
girl's basketball team thus
far were challenged by
Coughlin on Friday the
17th. The girls will play on
their home court.
